New Thorfire

VG25

Reminds me of a crack pipe. I’d like to know why that bulge is needed.

*Edit - after looking at the other pics I can see those are for heat. Still think it looks like a crack pipe

Yep, very unconventional looking.

First candidate ugliest flashlight 2016 :–5

Bad decision. If you’re gonna have a wide spot, make it wide all the way to the top and have a better reflector.

Now that you mention it, a hot flashlight might make a very good vaporizer. You could melt wax in a little copper bowl or maybe a bottle cap.

I have one of these.

Looks like a cobra or something. Lol.

A good light. Very like a convoy s2 with a side switch.

Very similar beam pattern and reflector size. I’ve swapped an xp-l hi v2 in there for a tighter hotspot.

It’s a good 1.5cm longer than an s2 though. 13.5cm long.

No “flashies” on the main mode sequence which I like.

Not really heavily driven. Read 2.4amps on turbo from my dmm, although not sure that’s particularly accurate as it’s a cheap dmm.

The Mrs likes using it as she prefers the side switch to the soft tapping of a tail switch to change modes.

It’s a very odd looker though… But maybe the Mrs likes that, as she married me. Lol.

i have one on the way…

I was thinking the same thing! A C8 is only a little over 14cm. So this thing is almost as long as a C8, and probably close to the same max diameter, with a shrunken head. Odd.

Why do they always include that Happy card, i find it annoying, it looks like an existential question which is ridiculous in this case

+1

It’s awful-looking.

They should make the head bigger to like EC25.

Yeah I agree. Convoy m2 size head would make it better… More throw for one… But the big fins are good at acting as an anti roll mechanism! Lol.

It has some good features. The side button shows low voltage with a red light, and the threads are square, and the tail cap is anodised.

Double click for turbo. Hold down button for a second for strobe.

I can’t fault the modes really.

Looks like the bulge at the front is oval, so it would not roll around much when put down. I see that as a +ve.
If I needed another flashlight I may consider one of these. I like that the Flashies are hidden. Those around me all hate flashies .

well, the aesthetics aside?

keeping it small headed, makes it pocket friendly, and if the bulge fights heat then i usually think function over form, within reason.

30 dollars isnt unreasonably expensive, if its a quality light. seems to have a decent amount of positive features.

not a bad light, really. at least looking at it, and assuming thorfire has any reputation for making a decent light in general… if i was back to work, and had a spare 30 bucks? i might try it to throw in a pocket. although i usually pocket a small zoomy for that function.

the runtime on low and med look friendly for EDC-ing it…

Well, they show it on a bicycle in the pictures, so maybe the bulge is designed to catch more wind than a smooth tube style flashlight?

At the least, it IS ribbed for her pleasure:)
