New triple p60 xpg2 r5 from edc plus

http://edcplus.com/edcplusis-x60l3-triple-xpg2-led-p60-dropin-p-128.html

interesting… even with the promo code its still $64. But its nice to see a mass produced multi emitter p60. The only other one I know of is the triples from oveready which are$165 and run hot hot hot hot on high. Nice to see no pwm and runs on 2x cr123s as well.

Only 2 amps? I would have hoped for at least 2 amps per emitter.

yeah - i agree i was a bit underwhelmed when i read that… maybe they are aiming for long runtimes on high without any heat issues… and still be able to use cr123s

700+ otf lumens for >$60 isnt exactly cheap, unless you really want a multi-emitter p60

This was bound to happen. Im sure they will release a higher output triple in time. Always like the game changers..

Either way I like the driver with no pwm

For what you get the asking price is very reasonable. Sure is a looker, too.

I do like the solid copper housing but I can get more output from a single XM-L at a fraction of the cost. Not big on the p60 format but one day I'll make an XP-G triple for my L2T. This one sure is pretty, I'll give it that much.

For those 75$ I prefer to buy a complete bigger light, but if you think the cost is ok, then it’s all right. Never thought that it could exist a market for such a expensive drop in

Unfortunately triple P60s have always been expensive so far, more of a premium sector item. I don’t see why they haven’t gone for at least an amp to each emitter though with all the effort put into thermal conductivity in the module itself.

I’d love to see cheaper options out there but the cost of three emitters, and the complexity in design and wiring are probably putting off the cheaper chinese brands who generally just copy relatively simple designs.

There is a gap in the market for budget triples though if any of them are reading this

i paid 135 for my triple p60 and 230 for my quad which is still being made

but my triple is also electroplated copper and 2a to EACH emitter  and 4000k neutral

edit: i dont want anyone to think im trashing this new offering from edc+, I like the fact that its a production drop in that features electroplated copper and a electronically regulated driver for all levels… and it has the ability to run on 2x cr123s as well as li-ion. I think all of thats superb honestly.

my opinion is just that if im going to spend more than $50-60, I want something thats going to melt someones face off.

For the money I’d rather get / make a single XM-L p60 drop-in with heavy OP reflector, for a much brighter output with smoother spill at a fraction of the cost!

To me if you want an XP-G2 triple, it should at least have the option of much higher output “if needed” … granted you may not use it on high all the time, but its there if you want.

I’ve got a Torchlab (www.oveready.com) triple H3 with a max of 1600 lumen, and yes at highest level it gets REALLY hot, but running it on medium is just fine for most of my tasks.

Macs Customs (www.macscustoms.com) also make a well-respected triple (XP-G2 or XP-E) for $99 + shipping … he uses a three-speed driver as well (no pwm) and drives his at 2.8 Amp max - he’s tested it in a Sphere at 837 lumen OTF at a nice neutral tint. Note: His website still shows the old XP-G output figures.

However the EDC Plus triple, given its build components and specs, should make for a solid and reliable drop-in giving adequate output, with great thermal transfer properties … though I’m not too sure about that white coating/paint over the drop-in??

All depends on your budget and needs I guess!

Not to TC… but we are all aware of their extreme pit-falls. With all the thoughtfully engineered LED lights available today, its hard to believe people would even consider spending money on one based on the P60. IMO they, should have been discontinued the moment they changed from incan to LED. But as long as people keep buying…

Yeah, I probably should have stayed out of this thread.

lol  to each his own haha

Very true

P60 still have some reasons to exist. They look good and the size is about perfect. I dont know what you guys dont like about them, heat transfer is good with some minor tweaks. Certainly not worse than on most C8s. :P

I've found myself getting the itch for some P60's again and ordered a few hosts and dropins this week along with the Triple mentioned in this thread.

please post some pics and let us know your impressions when you fire her up!

Looks like a nice P60

2A 720Lumens = $75 + Shipping costs / Value = $1 per 10 or so lumen

I dont know , its trick , swank , and expensive ... + nothing a $15 XM-L drop in cant do ...

But some one is sure to love it .

When compared with manafont uf, for example,(which are about 25% of the price) I don’t see the point.
