New TS10 SG w Single LED announced

The name is also weird, it could be just TS10S, following the same naming scheme as the TS30S (single SBT90) vs the standard TS30 (triple SST40). Using the same old bezel will save them some money but I’m hoping that they change this for a taller bezel and a smooth optic.

I wanted a single-emitter TS10… but not with this weird TIR. I will wait for more pics and beamshots

the wk04 has the same optics as the HS10

Alternative mod with large effect on throw from using a smaller LED w stock TS10 Triple:

pic shows that the size of the LED has a major impact on the throw of a TS10 Triple. (at 1/3 the lumens). The XPP is half the size of the CSP.

Dayum. That beam is uugly

otoh, in actual use, maybe the eye just sees the intense hotspot, not the shadow and dim spill? This view shows the projected beam, plus the shadow area, in a more appealing view of the main central beam

I second that :confounded:

EDIT:
The TIR reminds me of the one from Wuben D1 and Fenix E12 v2 (among others), but those didn’t have the beads so the amount of artifacts in the beam was much reduced.
They are somewhat throwy but with usable spill. However, I would say that for this TS10SG version a different kind of TIR would probably be better, so that the beam is neat!!

You only need to supply 1/3 the current. Im assuming max brightness will be significantly lower as leds are less efficient when overdriven.

They already have the bezel specs from the Convoy T3 and the SP10. Just use those and throw a TIR in there and everyone will be happy. This seems like a cheap, half-baked single TS10 we all want and almost all the parts already exist.

Please this

I don’t have a white well pic but the fenix e12v2 has a much nicer looking beam. That thing shown above looks like s sci-fi image of an exploding star.

Edit: e12 and ts10

That really does depend on many things and very hard to quantify when sspeculating

according to my measurements:

height - 11.75 mm

diameter - 17.74 mm

emitter hole - 6.52 mm

for my TS10 single emitter I used an FWAA aux strip from loneoceans OSHPark iirc, and an 18 × 10 or 12mm TIR, but the optic required sanding, and it does not produce a great beam with the dedomed 3000k XML2 that is currently in there.

I will put another emitter inside, but I doubt even with an SFT the light will throw well. the TIR is frosted and floody.

someone on Reddit said the D3A or D3C reflector will fit, though I imagine the SP10 one would as well. I just haven’t gotten another SP10 to steal its bezel for a TS10 yet.

I think for Wurkkos to produce a light that resembles the FW1A, they would need to manufacture a longer bezel, and it would require using a similarly deep reflector.

The SP10 reflector is not suitable, it is short and wide, and produces a wide hotspot.

I dont know of any good Tir that fit the SP10 bezel

IF Wurkkos can find a Tir that fits the SP10 bezel, they could use existing parts, instead of having to produce a new bezel.

From my own experimentation, a bezel slightly longer than the SP10 Pro bezel would be perfect.

I believe that’s mostly due to the texturing and focus.

The overall dimensions are almost the same as the Convoy T2 smooth reflector and that one has incredible throw in a TS10 with W2 single, more than an FW1AA with a W1. (36.9kcd on the T2 reflector vs 30.8kcd in an FW1AA W1)

I would’ve swapped it to SFT25R but the MCPCB I used wasn’t suitable.

Well I got mine today… It was in the middle of my lawn. Not liking this shipper that they used.
Uni Express. No notifications not decent tracking info.
Anyway, I will play with it a bit. So far, the artifacts in the beam do not seem that annoying on a wall at 6 feet. Definitely noticeable at 2 feet. Decent central hot spot though.

More later
