If you take only one sentence out of all my posts sure. I made a mistake implying it would “never” be lethal but none of my other posts implied that. Just about every one of your quotes of me was only a portion of my post and you keep harping on one single sentence. You win. I’m wrong. Get over it.
A lot of this subject has been discussed outside “the industry”. In a friendly setting.
Not so much of this subject has been studied in a controlled environment.
Mostly because shooting a gun in a perfect vertical direction is not so easy (don’t forget the wind).
The best experiment known shows that less than 1% of the bullets landed in the designated area.
However, one thing is as true as can be: what goes up must come down.
Estimated is that the terminal velocity of a handgun bullet is about as fast as is needed to break the skin.
And the last thing you should do is looking into the sky if you can see it coming (see => eyes).
If you wear a gown, have a beard, and carry an AK47 for a purse you are more dangerous than that.
But it all depends on circumstances. The verdict is that it is NOT harmless, it even CAN be lethal.
The good news is, a bullet of a powerful gun has about one minute of airtime.
Lang enough to grab a can of beer out of the bucket and go inside.
Or run to an overpass like the local LEO’s do.
“The Times Square celebration dates back to 1904… Other cities have developed their own ball-dropping traditions. Atlanta, Georgia, drops a giant peach. Eastport, Maine, drops a sardine. Ocean City, Maryland, drops a beach ball, and Mobile, Alabama, drops a 600-pound electric Moon Pie. In Tempe, Arizona, a giant tortilla chip descends into a massive bowl of salsa. Brasstown, North Carolina, drops a Plexiglas pyramid containing a live possum; and Key West, Florida, drops an enormous ruby slipper with a drag queen inside it.”
