Glad to be a part of this flashlight lovers forum.
I do a lot of Urban Exploring which is exploring abandon buildings, especially old hospitals, asylums, TB hospitals, etc. Multiple light sources are a must. I usually take two 2AA LED Maglights with an output of about of about 170 lumens, or so says the packaging. It’s usually enough and is compact.
My cousin recently visited me from Georgia and gave me his Defiant 3D, 3LED light that has a push button switch on the bottom for high and low output, a machined top that looks like it was made to dissipate heat and a plastic lens cover. There are no model numbers and the batteries are Defiant LR20, MA1, 1.5V. The reflector is plastic and the bezel is scalpel but not sharp.
It puts my 5D LED Maglight to shame.
Can anyone tell me anything about this model . . . lumens, model no., etc? Does Defiant have a Home Page and if so, what is it’s URL?
Thanks, and it’s a pleasure to be part of the group.
Welcome!
Not personally familiar enough with the Defiant line of lights but I know others here are. I think nearly all of our lights here will put Maglites to shame. They just haven’t really kept up.
Welcome to the forum Hidden Witenss. This might be the light you are talking about. It has a lousy anno or paint job, but otherwise I like the light. I wish I had kept mine and traded it in when it went down to $2.
I joined here when my LED rechargeable maglite just wasn’t enough and I’ve been AMAZED at how light you can buy for the price. If you look hard enough, you can find a light that will out shine the Defiant for half the price and half the size.
Best bet, start a thread on the “Want to buy” section with what your specifications are (pocket size, 3D size, good for distance, good for flood, under $100 etc etc etc) and these guys will help you become addicted to flashlights in a heartbeat.
Sadly for me, there are no good places to go wander around and explore, you have to drive a few towns over to find something interesting.
There used to be a old bradlees/ames right down the street from me. Before it got demolished, my friend and I would often go through the roof access door and do some light painting, as all the windows were blacked out. That all ended when it got demolished though for a “town revitalization” :Sp (now there is just a huge empty lot)
