newbie from the uk

Hi all I’m already a gadget junky but ive joined as I’m looking for a good light for work as I recently lost my led lenser P7.
I’m looking for something to attach to a utility belt via any method or to my body armour that will light alleys and buildings.

Any advice welcome

Welcome to BLF!

What type of battery should it run off of and what is your price range? Welcome to BLF though!

Need more specifics on the light!!

Welcome and congratulations, you have found your way to the right place! 8)

Hello :cowboy_hat_face:

Battery any really I’m open to advice price 20 to 40 pounds depending on set up so that’s around 30 to 60 dollars I think.
It can be cheaper if it does the job as for size nothing too large 15cm Max length

The Fenix PD32 UE? Great small tactical light.

Used would also be OK if anyone had something

Welcome to the froum littlejohno.

Now put down your wallet and step back from the keyboard……….

Welcome to the BLF, littlejohno.

Please have a look at the Rofis Transformers, as they have a head that twists 90 degrees for hands-free illumination.

I’ll take a look at the above and I don’t need my wallet I have papal :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you want to step into the world of lithium or stick with primary cells (aa etc)?

Does it need to be pocketable in jeans/dress pants or overhauls?

As an example, I use a c8 xm-l in a headstrap at work. 3 mode, l-m-h no blinkies, its perfect, but it depends on how happy you are with lithium cells. To me, buy a good charger and good cells, you have nothing to worry about, and it makes light choices easier/cheaper.

Welcome to the forum, hope you have fun here.

It will go on my utility belt or body armour so size wise up to 30mm length around 150mm rechargeable batteries are handy but I’d for which gives the best light .
Although I used to put the p7 on my my cycle if I rode at night so it needs to last.
When it comes to batteries I’m lost

You're going to love it here, littlejohno!

Been looking at this !!!

£26 + is robbery for a 501 johnno!!, you’ll get an equal deal from china for half that price, drawback is, a longer wait.

I’ll have a look its a mine field lol any links to sights for a good purchase would be great

EDIT: Whoops. For some reasson I manged to skip this part “I’m looking for something to attach to a utility belt via any method or to my body armour that will light alleys and buildings.” You can skip my specific recommendation then.

If you dont plan on getting a bit “hardcore” into the flashlight world with li-ion batteries Stick with AA batteries and get this light:
http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10001842/1217800-nitecore-ea4w-cree-xm-l-u2-ha-iii-8-mode-860-lumen
The price is very good for that light, and if you use “pricecontrol” coupon you will get even much lower price…
Once that is ordered, leave this forum and never come back… :stuck_out_tongue: lol…

If you get into (18650) li-ion you will easily blow your budget. Because buying quality batteries, quality charger and a decent light will cost a bit (say 60:money_mouth_face:. BUT once you have charger and 2 batteries you will most likely end up buying several lights because there are so many nice lights to choose from when using li-ion…
