Not exactly budget at $55 but it looks interesting. Parasitic drain may be an issue but again, it looks interesting.
I have this light. I was going to review it but family matters came up. I’ll summarize it basically.
It is very short and nicely bright. For a light this small it has some great throw! The reflector makes full use of the fatter head and is very deep as well. It has five brightness modes, none of which are very low (especially on 16340). SOS and strobe are hidden and accessed directly through long-pressing mode and on-off respectively. While on long-pressing will send you into “turbo” mode which is barely above the high mode. This is useful for going directly from low to turbo and back without cycling through modes.
The light has some unique features as well. The 0.2 lumen red light on the side is the biggest. It can be turned on for a “preserving your night vision” light. When the light is off you won’t need to add a tritium vial to locate it in the dark, because it blinks every few seconds. That can be turned off if it bugs you, just put the light in “lockout mode”. Big benefit of this mode is when you put the light in lockout it will tell you the current voltage of your battery! I tested it, it’s pretty accurate. Also when the light is on it will blink every 3 seconds if the battery runs low, and blinks even faster when the battery is almost dead.
In summary nice pocket thrower with some unique features. Negatives might be the clip sticks out a little far and the blinking may get annoying but can be turned off. Also using a higher bin XP-G than R5 might have given it a little more output/runtime.
I’m carrying it around loving it. I recommend it
