Nitecore EDC07 (multi-color LED, polycarbon body)

NITECORE EDC07

At the end there will be a summary for those who like only particulars. In each topic I will bold the key sentences, so it will be easier to notice what’s the most important. Enjoy!

Nitecore EDC07 is a great small pocket flashlight. With polycarbon housing, it is lightweight and “modern”. 1500lm of brightness, 132 meters of throw and 3 white light temperatures to choose from is all you need in (almost) ultimate small EDC.

Appearance, parameters

Small form factor, great as an pocket EDC

Front: Plastic lens + TIR optics resulting in evenly distributed light.

2x NiteLab UHE MCT LEDs (I know, not the easiest name) - as shown in the picture there are 2 LEDs, each containing 4 cores: 2 bright cool white ones, and 2 high CRI warm ones. It gives an ability to shine 3 different light tints: cool, neutral and warm.

On/off switch is located in the back, it’s a forward type mechanical switch. Brightness and tint can be changed by an e-switch located on the side.
There is also a small battery power indicator (stays turned on after changing brightness or tint).

UI, runtime, heat dissipation and charging

UI

Mechanical forward type switch (on/off) + side e-switch (changing brightness and/or color temp.)
List of all modes with runtimes (from Nitecore website)

Runtime

Max declared 360h of runtime, and “We’r not gonna test that” - Project Farm, probably.
But I can test higher brightness:

HIGH 300lm

As you can see, the curve is a bit…curved, due to overheating. A strange dip in brightness is caused by…I really don’t know the cause of it. Let’s pretend it’s not there. Total runtime of 150 min is a good value, considering that 300lm is a relatively high brightness.

Heat dissipation

Polycarbon is not as good of a heat conductor as aluminium, so the flashlight might seem warm, but inside’s temperature is higher. Of course ATR (thermal regulation) is inside, so you should not be concerned any internal heat damage.

Charging

Built-in USB type C charging port, cable included. Fully charged in over 1 hour, adding 1368mAh / 7Wh to the battery

PWM

I did not observe any PWM, here are OPPLE flicker tests:

Waterproofness

Declared IP67, which means high dustproof and also waterproof, but not to the point where you can safely submerge it.

Light pattern, tint

Nitecore includes their newly released 3-tone LED, which has 4 cores: two 6500K 73CRI “high-efficiency” and two 3000K 97CRI “high-cri” cores.
This resulted in three available light tints:

COOL 6500K 73CRI

Looks a bit greenish, it must be my camera setting, because it does not look that green.

NEUTRAL 4500K 83CRI

WARM 3000K 97CRI

Summary

Nitecore EDC07 is an interesting flashlight: yes, they releaset couple of small factor similar style flashlights, but this one is made of polycarbon and has multiple light tints with high CRI of 97 (warm light). It is VERY lightweight (again, polycarbon body) and warm to touch (nice feeling). 1500lm goes in pair with 1500mAh battery - to sum up, good momentary brightness (sustained 300 lm in high mode) and decent battery capacity.
Overall, I like this bad boy and if you are looking for something small and very lightweight to always carry with you, this might be it

Pros:

  • Available 3 light tints (cool, neutral and warm)

  • USB C charging port

  • Polycarbon body (lightweight and durable)

Cons:

  • Well idk, but feel free to leave a comment

If you have any questions, put them below, thanks for sticking for a while
