I bought 2 NiteCore Tubes several years ago, a blue one for my wife and a clear one for me. Mine has been working flawless since the beginning. My wife’s though, seemed to have problems. About a year ago I decided it was time to charge hers. I went to turn it on, it did not. It seemed the battery was dead. I asked her if she used it much, and she said no. So I charged it and it worked fine. I concluded that somehow it must’ve gotten turned on in her purse.
Then recently I again thought it was time to charge hers. Same thing occurred, it would not turn on. This time I played around with it by pushing the button and slightly twisting/bending it. The flashlight would turn on by doing this, but would not stay on. So I took it apart to troubleshoot.
I noticed that when I put pressure on the LED it would turn on.
So I got the soldering iron out and re-melted the solder at the 2 LED contacts. As soon as I melted the contact circled in red (sorry for the blurry picture), the flashlight started working.
My wife was happy to get her keychain flashlight back in working order.
I can’t recall how many times over the years just re-melting solder joints have saved electronics from the trash.
