NLD, Convoy M26E (size comparison included)

Pics Here:

NLD, Convoy M26E (sibling to M21K)
  • The M26E is basically a M21K with a 26mm tube, and it comes with a 26800 extension by default.
  • This one is equipped with a 5000k LHP73B emitter
  • I’m using a yellow Queen Battery 26800 that’s never been used before in it
  • This is not a white wall hunter, you can see a pattern from the optic on the wall up close. Don’t do that. Use it outside!
  • Stayed very cool on max ramp/ level 4 which is 10A
  • All brightness levels seem to exceed my M3-C in intensity, but the M3-C is floodier and has less beam artifacts. In a pinch, the M3-C is better inside the house
  • Biggest disappointment is that to hit 20 amps, you have to hold down the button after a double-press. This is in the manual on the product page, my own fault for not reading. Not a dealbreaker, but I would have preferred to just have a 5th level with stepdown.

Overall, this seems like it will be a very practical light. Last night I brought it out with a D4Sv2 and there was no comparison at distance performance. In retrospect, it’s a bad comparison given the difference in optic/reflector. Tonight I’ll compare it to the M3-C with an XHP 70.2 Hi in 5000k. That’s a favorite light of mine and one to beat for general walking duty.

I just got mine yesterday. I ordered it with a Keeppower 26800 E-700 cell.
I also ordered 6 of the green 26800 cells at the same time, but Simon sent those in a separate parcel. Discount was pretty deep with the purchase of 6 cells.
I don’t hate the hold for 20a, but it would be nice if there were an option to not have to do that.

Yea the decision to make it a double-click and hold seems like a decision meant to lower complaints from non-enthusiasts complaining about short runtimes.

I guess there is still Tactical Mode which gives you the full 20 amps whenever you turn it on. I should try that out tonight
