We had turkey and all the trimmings last weekend. For Thanksgiving we made pizza and a had a great bottle of dolcetta d’alba. We followed up with a pumpkin pie, and an apple pie.
Anyone else do anything a little different for turkey day???
Today was something anticlimactic feeling for me. We spent the first part of the week, picking up donated food and then packing up food packages at the food bank. Then yesterday delivered loads of firewood I cut and split thru the summer to several homes in need. Today we rested at home, our son came over, we ate left over turkey in a turkey vegetable pie, had fresh pumpkin pie with whipped cream. The best part of the week so far was seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of the children. The smiles and thanks from the adults was pretty nice too, but I always feel down after these events. We’re comfortable and warm; not everybody is.
