non-silicone wires

I ordered some drivers from simon that came with wires already attached. they are not silicone …. should I switch them to silicone or leave them? it’s a 2.8amp driver (7*7135 @ .350). it’s a gift light so I don’t want any problems. thank you

it’s also a xml2 on a copper noctigon going in an s2 if that makes any difference

If not silicone, they may be Teflon. But, even if they are just plain old PVC, they should be fine at 2.8A current. The PVC jacketed wires are harder to solder, because you have to be careful not to melt the jacket with too much heat. But, in use, they will carry the current fine.

I’m pretty sure it’s regular PVC. I’m mainly asking if the heat will be a problem. my personal s2 has a qlite w/silicone and it gets hot on high

The PVC will behave fine under use, just when soldering the wires, too much heat/too long heating will have it melting down more than you want.

thanks guys…. ive never used pvc wires in a flashlight. but i sure have melted some when soldering

Normally, PVC jacket is rated 80C. If the cable is not directly contacted with the LED, I thought that it should be no problem.
