i have edited my own posts before but that is for like spelling and grammar…. on other forums people like to be smart about spelling mistakes even if it was a mistake! makes me angry lol but i am not here to spell! i am here to build!
Yep. It was kind of funny because the whole thing was cached and took almost no effort to find the culprit. There was another one where someone did the same thing, but only to have someone else win instead of the deleter.
Tholian web -original Star Trek series. Definitely guilty on editing. In some cases acceptable as in revisions of op for mod builds or op maintainence and others where trying out different ways to create mod threads(mine tend to be long and need to be broken up). Still haven’t found the perfect format since linking the op to subsequent posts doesn’t work for some. For now I link and include the post number. Editing a lengthy op can be extremely tedious so it’s much easier to make a new post and add the link plus a line or two of text to the op. Thanks to the guidance of others, making changes in the op title and date help let people know where to look.
Easier for the fixer
Easier for the reader
More clear about the original intent
Or addresses the unstated goal of minimizing the total number of words to convey meaning. (just think how long the threads would be if we tried to make them long OMG)
Not meant as an attack I just done see why I cant fix a spelling or grammar/syntax error and be done with it. If folks saw the error (cest la vie) if they see the new and improved version, all the better.
I do get that Kronos can’t be expected to crawl through each post every day to see what the new position of substance is. I.e. a request for action needs to be linear so that the last one is the controlling one (well at least to me this makes sense
I often edit right away for spelling, my typing ain’t great and I don’t always catch it before posting. But if I feel the need to alter an old post I add to it underneath my original with:
(Added) or P.S.
That way people know what’s going on. But to cheat on a contest or sales thread? Never. That should be a bannable event |(
Most time if I’m modifying a post that’s more than an hour or so old, I’ll add an “EDIT: ” but it bugs me when people quote my bad grammar, so I try to get everything right the first shot.
Kudos to the main perpetrators of this heinous activity. They have taken my not-so-tactful hint and refrained from venturing further down this diabolical path.
However, there appear to be some minion wanna-bes, that, as of yet, have not received the memo from their formerly accursed masters, and are continuing this nefarious practice. 8)
