I like the fact that we ‘can’ talk about such ‘other’ topics here, and as you said, get great advice too! This is more than a flashlight forum, for sure! I respect the members’ opinions here on a wide range of topics. So, when advice is needed, BLF is the first place I think of to get good advice! It’s definitely unique in that way. I’ve been a part of exactly one other forum that was as friendly and helpful as BLF, but they always stayed ‘on topic’ there, or at least very close to it. As a result, when I stopped needing help and advice related to that topic, I lost interest in the forum. There just wasn’t anything to talk about.
P.S. I actually thought about BLF being the “Budget Everything” forum just the other day, for exactly the reason(s) above.
This thread is ridiculous, just like the people who keep posting off-topic threads. This is a flashlight forum. Stick to flashlights :rage: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :disappointed: :confounded:
Wait, I’m all about off-topic and accidentally derailing threads! Keep up the good work my fellow raccoon
I think there is a particular mind-set that feels at home in this forum, in common we have (mostly) a love for flashlights, bargains, knives, EDC gear, technical topics and an appreciation for craftsmanship, among other things. We also prefer things to stay casual.
It’s not surprising that what interests one of us as a topic tends to interest many others, even if we think it is a long-shot.
EDIT- BTW Raccoon, your posts are at 10441, you just passed a significant battery size, next 14500, 18650, 26650.
Agreed. This place is loaded with friendly, helpful folks with good noggins on their shoulders. I've gained a vast wealth of non-flashlight related knowledge here. The credit goes to SB for creating a safe, fun, and nourishing environment that has attracted all these wonderful people.
