I’m looking into getting a new flashlight for my keychain, and I like the UI of the Olight S1 and S1A, but one issue that may be a deal-breaker — I’ve seen differing reports of the mode memory for moonlight and turbo. Can anyone tell me if moonlight and/or turbo is saved in mode memory for each of these models. thanks
In my experience with other Olight batons, moonlite is always directly accessible from off with a ‘slow’ click, and levels above moonlite remain in memory.
Moonlite does not remain as a memorized level.
thanks, and turbo is memorized even when accessed via double click?
For the S1A with a 14500 yes, since the turbo mode isn’t activated by a double click like on the other Olights. The S1 doesn’t have turbo so its highest mode is also memorized.
The S1 doesn’t remember moonlight but the S1A does (just like the rest of the current S series).
edit: olightstore.com has manuals for all their lights which cover this question among other things.
The S1a is a sweet little light BTW.
I picked up an aluminum version and a copper version in the black Friday sale. They are both great, but I almost prefer the regular version because it weighs 1/2 as much
In my opinion, both are too big to be used as a keychain, looks more like a flashlight with keys attached than the other way around
I have no problem with carrying a flashlight with keys attached (I don’t have many keys), and I like the clicky switch and direct access to other modes……though I’m open to other recommendations if anyone has any.
Not all of the teensy Olights have lanyard holes. So with those either you’d have to use the very small hole on the clip instead or swap the tailcap for one with the lanyard hole. Not ideal. You could buy the Olight Ion?
