Hello, I’m looking to get a good thrower, I like the short form factor lights. I found a new SR50 for $70 and was wondering if its worth it?? I know its getting a little old now, but should have some good throw on it. its specs say cr123 batteries, but i’ve read were 16340’s will work. does anyone here have this light? or is there maybe a better choice for $70 with more throw?
There’s a great deal for an olight,but as far as the rcr123 goes,they can’t be used.I have seen the 2-18650 carrier at battery junction,so options are there.I believe there are better options for the Sr50 like modding it to xml on sinkpad if you want throw.I was considering it for an MTG-2 mod,but the reflector is really too small.I don’t own this light,but I think it’s a great value @$70 only if you intend to mod with another emitter to get throw.
I do own a SR51, basically the same as the SR50, but XML instead of SST50. It’s a great light. Great throw and flood. Excellent quality. I started using it with cr123’s, but a few months ago I got the 2 x 18650 carrier. I prefer that setup much better. Kinda weird, but I did have to put a very slight cardboard spacer below that carrier for it to make proper contact.
For $70, I say the SR50 is a great deal.
i have a sr51 with a 18650 carrier and it is a good light but if you go on youtube goinggear as a review on the two flashlights and the sr 50 as a more focus beam and maybe a little bit more throw ,go check it.
ya ive checked out those reviews, seems like a nice thrower in a small package. I was hoping i would be able to use 16340’s in it, but if it only takes primaries its prolly not worth it

sweet! thanks for finding that for me! maybe I should take a chance on the SR50. using two 18650’s vs 6 cr123’s it will be operating at a slight lower voltage, any idea if that will effect the output on the light?
I’ve tested my SR51 both ways. Both setup a were almost identical. Both variations put out about 825otf.
As a twist, my Maelstrom S18 jumped almost up 200 lumens when I went from cr123’s to 16340’s. That was a pleasant surprise. But the SR’s made no difference.
yes go for it you will not regret it i am sure, olight are very hight quality lighgts, that is a bargain at tha price and there is no visual difference with the two 18650 vs cr123.
Anyone knows for a chinese retailer where I could buy this 2x18650 holder for SR50?
Given the SRK any thought, beam is much wider, throw is only slightly less, but much better VFM, I have just watched youtube and SR50 beamshots, when thinking about my 2 SRK NW and CW, compared with the NW I’d have the SRK any day, maybe look at some SRK beam shots ?

Apples to oranges… A thrower vs flooder. I have the SR51, King & Kung. The multi emitters cant run with the Olight, not on build quality or run time.
I have a friend that likes throwers, I like them to 
so maybe I could score 15-20$ (just enough to get C12 XM-L2 
) if I get him SR50 for good price but not without that 2x18650 carrier, CR batteries are ridiculously expensive over here, about 6$/piece and noone uses them.
As per SRK, will buy it one day, when texaspyro finishes his 7135/ATTiny85 custom SRK driver…
