I remember that day well. I grew up on lake Saint Clair and the Saint Clair river, and will always remember those giant freighters going by and waiting for their wakes to swim in. Was always in awe of the power and enormity of the great lakes, especially Superior.
I was at my grandmother’s house with her and my favorite aunt who had a birthday on the 11/11. We were watching the channel 3 evening news, Chronkite??? It was a big story.
