OP reflector for a C8

I recently got a C8 and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get an OP reflector for it? Thanks.

Manafont sells them; make sure you check your measurements before you order! I have a "C8" and it has a non-standard sized reflector.

Thanks Keltex! I will make sure I measure mine first.

You could try stippling it yourself.

It actually is really easy.

Are you referring to using hairspray? I did read a post about doing that.

Hairspray works, but I use clear Krylon spray. (Clear spray paint) I think OL uses the same thing but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give it a try if I can’t find one that fits.

I successfully stippled the reflector on my neutral XinTD V3 .

I did not like the beam profile in stock form , as I purchased the light for use as a bike light . The stock beam was too throwy in nature , I like lots of spill for illuminating the ground right in front of the bike .

After stippling , the beam profile is much smoother , the hotspot flows smoothly into the corona , when then flows into a much brighter spill .

Now it's a perfect bike light for my use .

The neutral XinTD V3 is on the top of my short list to buy next….
But I’m really picky about beam profile. I am ok on the throw but can you comment on the overall beam quality; How’s the color in the stock V3 beam? is the hotspot and corona smooth color or yellow? Is there any rings or other beam artifacts?

….I am hoping if I go ahead & spend the extra for a XinTD V3 vs. the other C8’s, I won’t be opening it up to mod it. I can see where you would need more flood for a bike light though. Thanks for any help here.

That ‘DC-Fix’ diffuser film is fantastic stuff; cheap, and should be in every tool box. It will turn the most craptastic beam into a perfect smooth floody beam. Yeah it kills most all the throw, but very little lumen loss. The mod is easily reversible as well. Great stuff!

When I got the XinTD V3 , I remarked that the XML 3C tint my particular sample exibited was cooler than several others I had . The hotspot is white , the corona is yellow , and as typical of XMLs in general , the spill fades into a purplish fringe . Because the reflector is designed for throw ( more than the V2 ) the color separation was plainly evident . In stock form there were no artifacts of any kind . However , I did not like the beam profile at all because I do not like an intense hotspot on a bike light because I feel that it is distracting . I stippled the reflector for two reasons , to diffuse the hotspot and to blend the color shift . I simply sprayed a mist of clear polyurethane into the reflector and it corrected both of the problems I had with the beam profile , both the tint separation and the sharp deliniation between hotspot , corona , and spill .

I still feel that the overall tint is cooler than I like , but I am much happier with the beam overall .

The machining of the XinTD is excellent , and the screw-in pill does a good job with heat dissipation . The PMW is very high ( I don't like low PMW on a bike light either , because I can see it on the road ) so I really like using it for a bike light now .

I am a tint snob , a beam profile snob , and a PMW snob , and I'm not afraid to admit it .

Thanks jacktheclipper, I was hoping the extra effort to optimize the reflector for XM-L on this light would have resulted in no color separation at least for the hotspot to corona area (no way the reflector can help much for the spill unless to diffuse like OP or stipple) More & more, I’m considering just giving up on the XM-L for these issues. At least for a throw light. I know the driver and build on this light are solid.

I do not own any XMLs that do not have at least a little color shift .

Hmmm, conversely, I have to look really hard to find any color separation in any of my XP-G lights. Maybe spill is just a bit cooler but no beam/corona color separation at all.

One total cure all for color separation is that DC-Fix mentioned above.

hey where is everybody buying their dc fix film. i can only find sellers from the uk.
is there a member selling them? sounds neat and i would like to try a few strips.

oh sorry it’s SMO

He could just buy that one and then make it OP.
