Options for Laser around $30

I am looking for options for a laser for $30. i am not looking of something overly high powered, just something that is reliable. I would like to use an 18650 battery for this. I would also like to stay away from a red laser. I am relatively knew to lasers, I do not know much other than the the research i have been doing for the past few weeks. I know it is not possible, but wouldn’t mind finding a p60 dropin laser.
thanks guys.

You could get someone to make you a p60 laser dropin.

If you have a drill press, you can drill a light press fit hole for a "module" into aluminum bar that fits a host of your choice. You can buy "modules" that have an emitter, lens, and even driver in some cases all press fit in a copper shell. DTR has good prices and he has a great rep. He has links to info on some of his products too.

In your price range wobt happen……safety glasses alone will cost you $40 so that leaves nothing for a laser. Red is the cheapest diodes at ~$30 but you still need a driver, host and heatsink.

Lasers arent cheap and if you go cheap with them you’ll lose your vision.

I wish i did have a drill press. thanks for the link.

I have glasses, got a couple pair from a work colleague that works for Electrical Engineer at the university. I understand they are not cheap and i am just wanting to get a relaible cheap one that i can tear down and experiment with.

Does it need to use 18650s?
Green 532nm 2xAAA I believe laserbtb is reliable.

not necessarily and thanks for the link. those look really nice.

Red is not ~$30 by the way. An LPC815 or LPC826 is $7 - 13 for 180-300mW.

If you add in the cost of a copper module, lens, diode press and then he needs to solder and your well over $30. Who cares that you can get the diode for under $10 when all the added pieces you need push it over $30………include the whole truth when quoting someone a price

$21 plus a driver……best bet right there at keeping it cheap

You dont quote someone the cost of a bare diode because a bare diode is useless by itself. You include the cost of the module and lens in the price of a diode! Plus you need a diode press in order to get the diode in the module. Unless you know what you are talking about, please leave it to people who do

Diode.

PM me your 16 digit debit card number as well as the 3 digits on the back of the card and I'll explain it to you. ;)

I believe you’ll get some more in depth info over at the lpf

LPF is too much like CPF, i feared i would get a mental beatdown from the experts over there.

LPF is nothing like CPF. LPF is perfect as long as you search before you ask. We dont like when people ask the same simple questions over and over and over. If you search youll see your question has been answered numerous times so you wont even have to ask it.

I will warn you that if you do ask this question, you will get my exact answer from every member

thank you livinloud

Welcome, if you are wanting to build a laser then definitely check out LPF for reliable sellers ofnparts. DTR is the ONLY source id use for diodes. Jordan is a great guy and tests everything before he sends it out, packaged very well and always helps customers. Survival Laser is a good source for hosts and JAD kits (just add diode). Thats what I suggest, a JAD or JADD (just add diode & driver) kit if you want to build it yourself. Stay away from foreign sourced lasers unless its from a reliable source like LaserBTB or CNI. Wicked Lasers is NOT a reliable source no matter what anyone says!
