My dog barks when the doorbell rings
Sadly that same sound is used in movies or on TV...I can't watch Family Feud or Wheel of Fortune without her going nuts ...
When the door bell rings our 2 cats run and hide.
I think the reason being, is that the only time the door bell rings is when we have guests over for a party. It must be to the cats that we are being “invaded” by enemies. They run and hide, all they can do is hear all the load noises and talking (the mighty battle between their 2 masters and the enemy). Each time though we prevail in the end, and one by one we fight them all off, until it is just the 2 of us (my wife and I) and the 2 cats. They then come out and look at us as if the say “You 2 are certainly might warriors”
“You are worthy of our adoration and affection, NOW FEED US”
My dog Charlie also goes nuts when he hears a doorbell on TV. :D
He's just sure that someone is at the front door, but he's always wrong. Our doorbell doesn't even work. I think Charlie's previous owners must have had a working doorbell.
There's a reoccurring skit on The Late Late Show. The host pushes a button that makes a doorbell sound and says, "Who's that at the door?!" Out comes the "horse" Secretariat (actually two guys in a horse costume). It's a pretty funny skit, if you haven't seen it, made even better with Charlie barking at the front door. No one's there, Charlie. :p
Also Charlie will "fetch" toys, but he does a half-a$$ed job. 8)
He has dozens of dog toys, and they're all his. If I pick up any one of them, he has to have it. He'll try to take it away from me, and if I throw it he'll go and pick it up. Then he usually tries to put the toy behind my mom's recliner, where it's difficult for me to get to. I could probably teach him to fetch properly, but I think it's funnier the way he does it. ;)
One of my dogs(Jack Russel) watches Tv, but thinks its real. If he see’s any animal, particularly dogs on Tv, he goes mental barking and running round, then looking out the window behind the tv thinking they are outside. Funny, but annoying as it really limits what you can watch on Tv

We have two cats, and they're both crazy. :X
Tigress is an indoors cat. She only goes outside for a few hours every month, and that's immediately after I Frontline all the critters. She's always afraid of me because I used to be the one to put her out, and she doesn't want to go out, and I don't think she likes being Frontline'd either. She swats and hisses at Charlie, but that doesn't detour him from trying to play with her.
Our other cat, Silly, acts like she's on drugs. She frequently wants to go in or out of the house. Or, in other words, the only time she doesn't want to come in the house is when she wants out. And she meows incessantly when she wants anything.
Silly is friends with Charlie. We call here Charlie's cat. Which chew toy is Charlie's favorite? It's Silly. It's like they're in an abusive relationship, but Charlie never actually injures Silly. She goes all around the house and yard. When indoors she bounces off the walls and gets into everything.
If anyone with a good home wants a free cat, take Silly, please. :evil:
Our little dog Cinnamon is our chaperone . Anytime me and my wife so much as touch each other , Cinnamon wants to be right in the middle of things . My wife laughs and thinks it's cute , it annoys me greatly .
We have a British Bulldog and when he wants to play he will give a bark and noodge us with his toy. If I am in the middle of something he only has so much patience before he will come running full blast at me, jump and turn to body check me. It is hilarious, and he has almost knocked me down doing it as he is a little tank (60 lbs of muscle). No aggression in him though, he just wants to play NOW.
The other thing (every bulldog owner will be very familiar with) is his flatulence. He will wake himself up with his stink, sneeze a couple of times and then run away from it, leaving us gagging with watering eyes.
He is the biggest softy and I wouldn’t sell him for any amount of money.

It seems to be very common for bulldogs to head-butt people or bodycheck them, crazy behavior.
They definitely have a personality. Mine makes me laugh every day.
You forgot about O-L, but it’s probably best to let sleeping dogs lie, LOL>
Chelsea is our indoor cat. She's just a little strange, but having to live around us is the reason.
She is addicted to plastic bags (Wal-Mart bags). She licks the inside (the release agent has fish oil in it). We have to stretch the handles, open the bag and put it over her head. She sits inside it and holds it down with her front paws, while licking the inside. She loves to "wear them". She will get her head thru the handles and walk around the house wearing the bag. That's why we stretch the handles, so she can get out easily. She has to have at least one bag a day, in the mornings and if it's a bad day, she may need 2 or 3.
She washes things in her water bowl. The water bowl is in the master bath (because she washes things and it's a tile floor). She likes to play with the plastic cap rings off plastic jugs and the small stretchy hair bands for women's pony tails. She washes them in the water bowl and then carries them to her food bowl and she won't eat if you take them out. She eats the food inside the hair band ring. If you take them out, she washes them again and puts them in the bowl.
She also loves to play with straws. They are her chew toys.
She has a basket in the office, up on top of a book shelf. She sleeps there when we are in the office. When she gets in the basket, one of us has to get up and pet her (stroke her head, like another cat's tongue would), or she won't lie down in the basket.
She wants to be brushed and she has a small rug for that event. She sits on the rug and meows until we brush her. Not every day, but when she wants it.
She's a daddy's girl and if me and my wife embrace, she's right there. She does not like us talking and she will meow if we do talk to each other, trying to be part of the conversation.
Since we don't have kids, she's more than a pet and the light of our days. Sad I know.....

My dawg likes to play dress up. This was before a recent trip to the beach...
And it sounds like you need another cat!
I taught our little pug to go to the door when my wife comes home and cry for her so my wife would be excited since the pup is my shadow. Since then, any lights outside and our pup will rush the door - even with my wife sitting on the other couch in the same room.
We have a very long driveway but unfortunately my wife decided our garage door needed to be white and so every car coming around the corner creates reflected light that sends the poor pug scurrying. Now I’m not sure who is the crazier of all of us.
Cool thread. My dog also goes crazy when the door bell rings. Seems to be a universal trait in a lot of dogs. She also doesn’t like when someone knocks either.
I put her on my lap and calmed her down tried to get her to fall asleep....and a i was laughing at her still and said to her .." so you don't like the door bell going .."Ding Dong " ...At which point she jumped down and hit the door again ..Obviously the word ding dong sounds like a doorbell??

That dog didn’t dress itself for the beach, so I’m more worried about the owner
