Owners of Nitecore Tini

I’ve got several keychain flashlights, but I continue the quest for the one that best suits my needs. I was just about to click the icon to buy a Nitecore Tini, but I thought I should check to see how they’ve held up over time. Are users satisfied?

Mine is a copper version. Bought since February 2019. Put on my bike key and still work normally until today. The silver coating on switches, side and bezel come off easily, though.

One big problem for me is it’s side and bezel part is made of translucent plastic. When bezel’s coating come off, some light shine back and blind me. I need to block it with my thumb.

Mine stopped working after a few months. Not sure why anymore……
My frend has one too and it’s still working fine after about 1.5 years

Hmmm… I was worried immediately about the ‘chrome on translucent plastic’ frame…
Just a really dumb choice by Nitecore to go with that.
Of course the chrome will chip or wear off…

Also, i don’t understand what was so wrong with the TIP buttons.
They are much better than the TINI buttons.
The delayed switch on of the TINI also sucks.
And the stock XP-G3 sucks too (but the TIR optic evens out the rainbow effect).
This would all be acceptable if they weren’t expensive.
But they are expensive…

Mine still works and looks good, because i don’t use it a lot.

The TINI is really cute though, but the TIP is a better product.

I’m now waiting for the TIP2 to arrive in the mail.

I have a Tini copper version. About a year and a half. So far, it works reliably. But I don’t use it every day.

This has all been very helpful. I carry a keychain flashlight all the time on a ring with my little Victorinox “gentleman’s knife,” both of them hanging in my pocket from a suspension clip. The Tini isn’t sounding very promising. Thanks for your comments.

If its gonna be hanging outside your pocket then the Tini should be great. I love/hate mine (hate more). Its way brighter than any AAA flashlight but it turns on by accident all the time and burns my leg and pocket. I would go for a Rovyvon if I were you. Specially one of the new ones like the A3X

The Rovyvon looks interesting. Thanks for the suggestion. It must be new; I don’t see reviews of it here yet.

Sidenote: The photos of the A3X show a light with “A3” on the body; no “X”. And there was an A3. You have to look at the specs to know which one you’re getting. RovyVon Aurora A3 (Upgraded) 6063 Aluminum EDC Keychain Flashlight

How about the Nitecore Tiki?
Quite similar to the Rovyvon, and probably without PWM on low modes.
Get the LE version to avoid the annoyance of the 365nm LED not working because it’s behind plastic, though… :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
You can find them for around 20 Dollars.
But i don’t know anything about them in real life.

Hmmm… Like the first Rovyvon this resembles, the PWM is horrible…

I love mine and really don’t understand how it turns on in a pocket. I got it when it was half price - about 15 US. The beam is nice, although a bit cool. It is very small and fits nicely in my coin pocket. It has never turned on by accident.

Pressing both buttons toggles between daily and demo mode. In demo mode, shining a flashlight just 30 seconds. Then it shuts down.

Would the differences between the Cree and the Nichia matter to the average user who just wants to use it for such mundane purposes as taking the trashcan to the curb and reading a menu in a movie theater? It looks like that’s the only one Amazon is selling (love that free shipping and easy returns).

The TINI only comes with Cree XP-G3 a.f.a.i.k.
Mine has an STT-20 3000K 95CRI though.
