P60 hosts

So, I know there are technically far better p60 hosts out there, but the 502b is easily my favorite (that I have tried)

Things I like about it;

Smooth curves eliminate snags

Very slim and small for being an 18650 p60

Pocket clip (fairly low quality, would like a better one)

Don’t like;

Heatsinking leaves a bit to be desired

Tail cap switch has around .6 ohms of resistance on mine

Any P60s out there that are smaller (needs to stay 18650, already have a 501a in the mail) with a better tail switch?

Would like a coated lens, but not a deal breaker and budget is around $75 (if it’s an incredible host I’ll gladly add to this)

Solarforce

Solarforce is the only game in town you should consider.

Been looking at those actually, I really REALLY like how they sell the big turbo heads, how are the clip options for them?

IMO they look a tad on the larger side, would any of you happen to have an L2 and a 502b for a comparison shot?

UF WF-502b and a SolarForce L2T I built myself. I like the 502b too, and it was my first P60. But since I discovered SF, I am not likely to buy any other P60 host again.

its the best game in town for sure

its like watching pro baseball (solarforce) and AA ball (not bad but could be alot better ultrafire)

Will spoil you!
Bought L2p then a shadow 26650 and heard about the
the SolarForce L2m host and ordered a drop-in from
Kaidomain 1,000 lumen for $11.84 and I am Spoiled
and nothing out there can interest me anymore. May get a new super drop-in in about two years.
Do not use the L2p or Shadow.
:santa: No just old man with beard like santa :open_mouth:

Love my L2M - even with the goofy tailcap.

What tailcap is that?

This one!

It’s got a weird, very soft forward clicky switch, and I don’t think it’s a very attractive tailcap on the larger L2s, but it sure feels good on the L2M. And makes it look unique.

How hard is the metal in the solarforces? I’m half tempted to put them on a lathe and see how thin I can actually make them, I prefer grooves to checkering anyways.

Rounding down some of those edges, adding horizontal fins and grooves for grip looks like it would be killer after a cerakoting

Interesting idea. I hadn’t heard of anyone “messing up” their L2 like that before.

Might check out the whole SF line first and see if they have a model that more closely fits your needs than that L2T I posted above. But if you just enjoy modding and tinkering, the quality of the metal on these torches are top-notch. I would’t take any thickness out of the drop-in section though. Heat-sinking is already an issue in most any P60 host.

Really like this one, but I loathe those rubber cigar grip rings, especially when removing them means a big channel is cut into the body of the flashlight :expressionless:

Yeah those SS L2Ts are really nice looking. I dig the cigar grip on my L2T, but I see what you’re saying.

I actually think that cap looks pretty good. It's amazing all the different things you can do to an L2M.

Best $11 you'll ever spend.

Yessir. I both blame and thank you for all the $$ I’ve spent on the SolarForce website, buddy.

And thank you - I agree that my tailcap looks pretty cool on the L2M. Likewise, that head on the right looks AWESOME on yours. Dammit. Another thing I gotta buy…

Do you get better heat management with that too?

Itsfoysfault

Other than the original SureFire 6P [and its modified bretheren] there’s the FiveMega tubes [sold by WonderLite] in many different lengths and the Lumens Factory SP-6 /9 hosts sold on the LF home site. Any of the SolarForce heads or tailcaps will work w/ the FM hosts. Neither is less $$$ than Solarforce.

Because there's a bit more mass, I'm sure it wicks away heat a little better but I'm guessing the difference over a normal head is negligible. It's vanity, pure and simple.

Well, it’s damn attractive regardless. And a hearty chuckle to your signature.
