Fasttech have a P60 XPG single mode drop-in. It is just what I am looking for really but it has a working voltage of 3.6-18v. What does this mean if I run it from a single cell? Will it be as bright and as efficient? My other XPG drop-in is 3.6-8.4v, but I have no experience with one with a higher voltage.
There seems to be several of these cheaper 3-18V circuit boards out there. I have one. Works just as nice on one battery as two. (Have not tested a single cell on low voltage yet since I just received it)
Many of them seem to output around 2Amps to an XM-L (mine does, and a couple of others I have read about seem to do that as well)
There is no way of being 100% sure how it will work on lower voltage input compared to higher. But if its not crappy, and made for an XP-G I would assume it would would have no problems with output on 1 battery.
Maybe its like the” DX 3-18V”:http://dx.com/p/18v-5w-cree-circuit-board-for-flashlights-16-8mm-5-5mm-26110 driver. Around 1,25A.
Either way, when it comes to such cheap driver circuits, you never know before you try it. Like often, there can be be differences from batch to batch too.
