It it possible to enable pagination? I find that I’m lost when trying to get to a specific page just endlessly scrolling topics so many levels deep. The right column only shows the newest and oldest with a mouse option to drag and select the page. Do the page numbers really need to be hidden?
Hi there @agent80 , thanks for the question.
There are no pages in this format. The vertical slider to the right shows post numbers, not page numbers. It also shows the date that they correspond to.
In the previous forum design, the pagination was completely arbitrary (30 posts per page), and the page numbers didn’t really correspond to anything concrete. Please see some additional comments about this here:
If you disable javascript a page button actually appears, but the site is not very usable in this mode. The site can still be browsed but most buttons are gone, no sidebars, no account button, etc.
Using NoScript and allowing only a single script for “budgetlightforum.com” brings back the functionality, but then appears a domRECT canvas object, which was not present on the old site, as far as I recall.
I was also considering asking about pagination. I find it a more intuitive way to read through long threads, not just here, but on other sites, as well.
It’s not a must have. I just like it more, but thank you SB for explaining more about the new platform.
Just a note, since the entire thread loads now, it is much easier to search for keywords within a topic. It’s easier on desktop but even on mobile your browser should let you search in page.
Yep, actually there are two ways to search within a thread, 1) the search icon uses the site search engine to search within the page including optional advanced search parameters, and 2) the browser’s on-page search also works to find keywords.
