Panasonic NCR18650A Vs Sanyo UR18650FM

I have a question, Which should I buy?

I Know the Sanyo holds it’s voltage better than the Panasonic and I know the Panasonic has a nigher capacity (3100mah) But the question is: Will the lower voltage under load make a noticeable difference in brightness?

I presume that in my BC40 it won’t, but in my P60’s they seem to have a different type of regulation and are brighter with my Sanyo’s.

Value wise they are almost the same price per Mah. I should also point out that they will be unprotected.

So which should I get? I would love as many opinions as possible please.

Marc.

Yes, the lower voltage under load will give you less runtime on full brightness on some drivers.

AMC based lights: Sanyo

Lights with good driver, multi cell lights: Panasonic

Easy. :)

Thanks Nightcrawl,

Just one thing though, what’s AMC?

Marc.

AMC are linear regulators. They are used in a lot of drivers of budget lights and they cant boost voltage, thats why the light gets dimmer over time.

Usually look like this:

Nightcrawl,

You are a wealth of information!

Do you know then if the Olight i6 Paladin has an AMC driver or not. This is my next torch.

Thanks,

Marc.

I doubt that Olight uses AMC regulators, but some other linear driver if I look at this runtime graph:

So you would have more time with full brightness with Sanyo but more total runtime with the Panasonic.

But it doesnt seem to have a low voltage protection, so you would be at danger to deep discharge your unprotected cells. Not much info about that flashlight on the internet..

You are right, there is not much info on the i6 but at the price Wallbuys are selling it at, I don’t care.

You don’t have any experience of these do you? Sanyo green top.

Again can’t find much info on these neither. No tests results anywhere. But they are a good price.

Marc.

You cant really go wrong with Sanyo cells. But I recommend the UR18650FM, still one of the best cells for single cell lights around.

Thanks Nightcrawl,

I appreciate your replies.
