panasonic ncr18650B with FET driver danger?

I am planning on building an m2 tomorrow ( thanks to RMM. extremely fast shipping.) I plan on using nichia 219C with mtn FET driver.

Is there any chance it would be dangerous to run ncr18650B with fet? will it over draw current wise?
is there any danger to run any cell with this driver? I know some cells are rated for higher draw, ( 30q) But I have a lot of cells that are not high draw rated.

You will just get less brightness using a lower drain battery. I doubt it will even be noticeable unless you are doing side-by-side comparions.

By using fet it won’t over draw and destroy the cell? I don’t mind a bit less brightness, for full lumens I’ll use 30q.

With the fet driver the higher the discharge that the battery can provide the brighter the light. The converse also applies. The battery itself doesn’t suffer from it.

Thank you for explaining that. It makes sense it only takes what the battery is able to give.

In a direct drive situation like this where the current is limited by the input voltage, a cell that sags more under load will give less current. A high drain cell is able to maintain higher voltage and so more current is able to pass thru the LED. It's self-limiting.

Right now I only have one 30q. But have a good amount or ncrb. Until those ncrb get old they will be the back up batteries when I’m camping. The 30q will be in there for regular use.
