I don’t have a light meter or any other GTs to compare to, but what would this one be classed as…

…not real good… Looks like mine.
Notice how the base circle is mirror finish, but the walls are OP.

To be fair, I’m not asking for a perfect, mirror-finish reflector, but on the other hand, I won’t be buying a mirror with a finish like that either, would you?
Rest assured, these concerns of mine are never directed to the GigglesTeam, which has done a great project and bring it to reality.
Objectively, my concern is only about the finish of the reflector, of which obviously is Lumintop’s prerogative.

Is it a different centering ring that others? I see a black squared ring around the LED,of course pictures might fool me

Maybe people should stop complaining about how long they’ve been waiting,
& only complain about bad quality when they get it ,
give LT time to do good QC & don’t rush them.
Well said Nev!!!
Sure, there will be some “bad” reflectors… I do not doubt that a bit.
BUT PERSONALLY…….What ticks me off ROYALLY is this:
After beginning production with the V.2 reflector…… Lumintop, bowing to the pressure of a minotity of people complaining about “slow shipping, I don’t have my light, yada, yada, yada”; changed back to the V.1 reflector in hopes of faster shipping to satisify the minority of complainers.
Then of course supposedly they have now changed back to V.2…… but who knows when that happened.
To me it is inexcusable that a minority of complaining people in this Group Buy caused many others to NOT GET the V.2 reflector that was actually a bonus …. because V.1 was all Lumintop was required to provide.
And no… this will not be sorted out & fixed. It is what it is!
The above is NOT speculation.
It is my personal opinion based on the information TA has provided in this thread.

The centering ring was changed, due to small shavings coming off when the assembly was tightened, & possibly burning up on the LED. Looks like LSX got one of the earlier one’s.

A 200,000cd deviation from a production reflector is too big to ignore.
Mine is still in the USA to friend for modding/experiment.
I haven’t seen it first-hand, but if it looks like the worst among the other versions, I will ask for a replacement.
Yeah. Im not much of a complainer, but loosing 200,000 cd is a lot. And the reflector just looks ugly. I also posted in case QC had lowered and then many people get low quality reflectors, which in the long run would just cost a lot for the manufacture to replace.

Is MY reflector V1 standard?

I don’t remember the prototypes being this orange peel.

GT on top, FET C8 below, both in the highest mode, from 8 meters. Note the off-round spot.

I added that myself as my LED wasn’t centered, it’s an XP-XM adapter that I trimmed the corners off.

REFLECTOR ISSUE
So I compared all three BLF GT that I have and I seem to have one really bad reflector. I initially compared all three to the wall at same distance and saw beam differences.
I then measured the beam intensity ( 5 times for each light) at 11 meters with the same battery pack on each light. Always turned light on first then loaned into light meter so that there is no initial burst on turn on and got the following measurements:
Light 1: 8300 lux @ 11m = 1004300cd
Light 2: 10500 lux @ 11m = 1270500cd
Light 3: 10200 lux @ 11m = 1234200cd
Then I realised that light 1 reflector was really badly machined one I looked close up into it. Thats a loss of 200000cd
On Light 1 I am able to see machining rings all around the light. Its almost like they forgot to polish the reflector. While light 2 is much smoother (while still being slight orange peal, which Im ok with) and Light 3 has some machining rings, but a lot more subtle. Light 2 has the best reflector (even thought the LED isn’t perfectly centred) and light 3 is second best on this comparison.
Light 3 has one machining mark on reflector and some rings, but its more subtle, which is a bit annoying. The mark looks like a grain of sugar but marked on the metal, not surface dirt.
I believe Light 1 needs a new reflector (possibly light 3 too), because it just looks bad and does not perform well, lots of spill and as seen on photos, lots of rings.
I dont know how to upload photos here, so I put them on dropbox. There are about 15 photos comparing the lights.

Bruno28, I think 200kcd could be caused by the height of the led relative to the reflector. Have you tried adjusting it by tightening or loosening the head a bit?

Yes, it looks like a bad centering and height adjustment. I had a similar issue with my Palight Boss, and the white wall shot looked very similar to the first reflector when it was out of focus. Since it has a rather big reflector as well, it seems to me your problem could have the same root. Emitter position and centering are crucial in these large reflectors. Try focusing it and post your results then, I am curious to see it.
BTW, do these centering gaskets fit? https://intl-outdoor.com/cree-xpgxpexte-led-reflector-positioning-gasket-10-pcs-p-601.html They are for xp-g emitters with the chip size 3.45mm, which is the same as xhp 35 emitters. They are made for reflectors with base aperture 5mm.

Wennn sorry but in my opinion your light looks way worse than the V1 proto !
I would be very displeased if my light turns out to be like that when I receive it
I really hope there will be a way to buy a V2 reflector in the future for all the people who received their lights with an inferior one and would like to change it.

So with all the bad reflectors, what does the team know about getting the correct ones. Since it’s not a isolated case. So to be clear from someone on the can you tell us what is going to done about it. Has someone from the team talked to lumintop about this what have they said. What has lumintop said about getting the reflectors. If the team hasn’t talked to lumintop about getting the correct reflectors they need to start, and find out what they are going to do to put this issue to rest.

In case you decide to play around by tightening and loosening the head it would be great if you could try the reflectors all on the same host. Maybe a few things add up to the bad result. For example the LED of light 1 could be underperforming cause it’s on the lower end of the flux for the binning or has a really high forward voltage.

Oh boy…
Just catching up here, it seems the road (and the reflector) got a little bumpy huh?
FWIW, i’d rather wait an extra month to get a nice reflector.
So i’m fine with April or May. LOL :person_facepalming:
Hope my order won’t delay the Facebook sales….
What an adventure…

This thing is a beast!
Many thanks to the team, Neal and Lumintop for this!
Special thanks to TA for stepping up in Millers absence and keeping cool under all this.
