Just an idea, if you are scamming customs it would probably be smarter to do some weird number like $23.87 if the max is $25. Would be kind of suspicious to me if I was a customs agent and a bunch of packages came in at exactly the limit.

I made that post having just read and fully understood the above statement. Just a theory I find improbable myself.
However, it’s been an official fact for some weeks that DHL USA shipped first just because it was more convenient to send in bulk, and other DHL orders followed because that too was so convenient. In reality LT had found out registered would be expensive and inconvenient, and feared losing face.

I mostly chose alternative registered shipping because I’m not home or awake anyways when the courier shipment would arrive. It would simply be easier to pick up two packages at the post office desk. Also I find DHL almost evil and have bad experience with their extortion policy. Higher possibility of having to pay VAT is one thing, but not the most important factor. I’m not actively evading taxes and duties, but obviously won’t pay if I receive something without customs noticing - no sane person would. I’ve paid more than my fair share anyway and I’m an anti-government, anti-EU prick too.
However, having found out the registered mail option is difficult and/or expensive for the mfg, I’m fine with any shipping and won’t do any specific requests. If it’s still not too late, benefits someone and does not require me harassing anyone busy with PMs, I can switch to courier shipping no problem. Hey, this is a hobbyist group buy and the first 555 price was too good.
I never thought regular mail could be more expensive than courier, especially in a world of transfer payments where one country pays for others mail. I guess this only applies to smaller parcels.

Ow no, it seems that registered shipping could not happening due people turning in to dhl
I like to know if it will happen before my light is shipped, dhl here is a deal breaker and I will not pay more than the cost of the light in taxes :person_facepalming:

After cleaning the MCPCB and LED centering plate of all the soldering flux residue posted here, I decided to check the battery carriers, glad I did!
The screws were not tight at all! (Including the center screw contact) and there was machining oil on most of the inside parts, I cleaned, De-oxit and Pro-Gold all the electrical contacts and made sure all screws were properly tightened.

After

Just another thing to check to prevent possible problems in the future and minimize internal resistance...

I’ll switch to DHL/FedEx if it means I’ll see the light soon. I’ve been silently patient, but now I just want my light

Would it be possible to know how much it costs to Lumintop shipping by mail and by DHL?
Depending on how much is the amount, people who have chosen to be sent by registered mail could be interested in paying this difference and both parties would benefit.

I bypassed all 5 springs on 4 carriers for my 2 GT’s.
The + Contact spring bypass…

For even less resistance.
I melted the contact springs in the carriers for the XHP70.2 GT!
22+amps will find the weakest link!

Very interesting, how only a few hours of not having T/A around leads to panic and fear
(No more need to read a Stephen King
)
Btw T/A,
Thanks for the great job you’re doing here!
This for sure is no easy task.
I will most certainly stay with registered!
In Europe this it the way to go.
I have trust in our friends in China to figure out a way to ship the GT.
If the GT is shipped in 2 parcels, the weight of one should be below 2kg. So no problems here.
They should take all the time needed, to keep quality up!
This is the only important thing here!
LT will get the last reflector for this GB in 2-3 weeks, I guess.(in case they get 100pcs a week)
So more than enough time to sort things out on how to ship.

Yo DB Customs, how would one go about polishing a reflector? I have a Thorfire S70S lying around with a OP reflector and I don’t think I can just go at it with 1000grit sandpaper.

Ordered with cells?
That might explain it, shipping cells is difficult nowadays due to shipping restrictions.
