So, I’ve got a growing collection of lights, but looking for that “perfect” EDC.
Mine would be something like this:
18650
Smallish head
Side switch
Tail stands
NW emitter
Well thought out UI (I’d like to be able to start in low w/ no memory, or mid)
No strobe/SOS modes
A pocket clip
And of course, budget!

Try looking at the shadow gf1 at intl. outdoor.com,it's a clone of sunwayman c20c basically and covers your criteria and starts at 37.00(sorry can't link right now).I don't own this light but it seems to be a good candidate, otherwise I do own the SWM c20c and it is a nice little 18650 edc.Hope that helps.
The solarforce looks nice, but that GF1 looks very interesting. ’m assuming no one has it, so I may be the test rat. I like the side clickie, NW emitter, no memory, hidden strobe and size. it sems it’ll be underdriven, my only possible gripe, but I’m not looking for a thrower. Will get an HD 2010 for that purpose. low looks low and wal shots show a well balanced light.
Yeah, you are describing the Zebralight SC600, but at $95 it’s not really budget. This Ultrafire T-50 seems to be as close to a budget clone as anyone has gotten so far.
For personal clarity, I should expound on the zebralight recommendation:
- I've owned 3 (SC60, SC600, H51), and sold off two. The only one I still have is the H51, which is on permanent hardhat duty at work. On paper, the other two should be darn near perfect and for some they are. Here's where personal preference comes in - Between the two I sold, I did prefer the SC60 more, but it's tragic flaw was the side switch. It had come on one too many times accidentally for me (deal breaker). The SC600, while having outstanding output, was all flood....and I didn't care for the polygonal head.
Now if only Zebralight re-introduced the SC60 using the stiffer button from the SC600 and upgraded the emitter to the xp-g 2....
Here is my take on what has been suggested so far:
1) Solarforce L2m - looks like a solid light, but I can only find a version w/ tail cap and no tail standing abilities. However, from what I read, I could upgrade the tail cap, etc. to make the light I want.
2) The Shadow GF1 seems to have everything I’d be looking for in a light, but I don’t love how it looks. It is available in NW, has side clickie, hidden strobe and useful light modes however lumen output looks a little low on high. Also, no one has this light yet, that I know of.
3) The EDC 18650 from Intl-outdoor looks very nice, will tailstand, has good output and offers 3-mode w/ a NW emitter option. There is no side clickie, but the price is nice, however no one has this light, that I know of.
4) Zebralight - too expensive for my budget.
5) Ultrafire T-50 looks about perfect. I like the ramping output feature in theory, but I don’t see it offered in NW.
I’ve got about a week until I have funds. I’m quite torn and still open to suggestions. If anyone knows of a UF T-50 in NW, please do tell…
