Been on a bit of a haitus. Not having gainful employment will put a serious dent in flashlight purchases. But back on track now & looking to buy a new light. Between the Fenix RC-40 & Olight SR 96 which would you choose? Please explain why you favor either. THANX!!!
i think the Olight 96 is pure garbage, 4800 lumens for the first 5 minutes and after it drop to 50% of the initial brightness so 2400 lumens…
i like the RC-40 but i already have a tk70, so i will wait to the next one or two generations. :bigsmile:

I’d say a RC40 over SR96. A pretty impressive light. However it won’t give you anything your modded BTU doesn’t all ready do except more runtime. Assuming you still have yours?
& the TK75… Just getting the urge for a new light…. LOL
If one MT-G2 light can easily make about 2.4K lumens now, a triple MT-G2 might not be far behind I guess. If you want a bright toy now, the FF4 @ $205 and 7K lumens (as measured by the Brothers) won’t disappoint.

It's not even close. My vote is for the RC40.
The SR96 is flooder, with terrible throw, also uses a battery pack, and the output drops after 10 minutes.
The RC40 is what a year or two ago would have been considered a monster thrower (still with plenty of flood) and is capable of running in turbo with no step down continuously irrc.
I would just wait for an xml2 version, or have it modded by Vinh if you do get it.
