This is the 4 Gen (AFAIK) LED Bulb from Philips
it’s quite cheap here (Indonesia)
3 Watt cost Rp 21.000 or about US $1.6
4 Watt cost Rp 24.000 or about US $1.8
Teardown both of them
Driver (left 3W and right 4W)
3Watt driver is very simple. Some Diode, Capacitor, and Resistor
4Watt driver is real deal. Using a Constant Current LED Driver Controller
Both 3W and 4W emitter mounted using a Aluminium MCPCB
3W use 12 piece 2016 Emitter
4 Watt using a 7 piece 2835 Emitter
(don’t know if philips made this emitter or not)
My mistake, i just put a link from tinypic without adding “picture” logo while make a posting
yes, build quaility is impressive for its price
i forgot that 3Watt version is using a metal/aluminium enclosure beneath white plastic (molded together)
unlike 4 watt that can be separated from enclosure
Heh, same as Toshiba 3 and 4 watters you know…. it seems they all use similar or same design, wonder who the inventor is…prolly chinese ROFL
The biggest flaw here are those el. capasitors, as an engineer in a construction company i can share my esperience: too often those cause shortcuts when their life ends: and it ends pretty fast - 2000 hours tops especialy when working under harsh conditions like amb. temp above 60 deg C- and thats how ELNA grades their high end capasitors, those are way inferiour.
Thats the reason EU think of banning those in future led produts- if you ask me they thould be banned so far yet the corporations have a strong “backup” at any EU level
Toshiba make a led bulb too ? i did not know that
three common brand here for LED was Philips, Osram, and Panasonic. But the other two have a higher price 1.5-2x times philips led at same watt.
Agree with you.
i already test 4 watt with aluminium heatsink was exposing in free air directly (not inside case)
and its really hot after 10 minutes. I can not hold my finger more than a second when i touch those heatsink
my guess its already over than 70 deg C with 32 deg C ambient temp.
