The case was on sale for $28 and gives me a nice place to store some of the more special lights for travel. The latches are keyed and lock and the whole thing is very sturdy. More than I planned to spend but it was 16% off and I figured it was worth the coin.
The two larger storage boxes are perfect for storing all my small components. Even with two of them I could use one more at least. As I was going through my previous messy bins I thought I'd only use a little of teh second one...
But that, too, filled up really fast. These larger bins were only $3.99

Wow - impressive... I guess all the foam cutouts you did yourself? What about the pouches, did it come that way or is that all custom too? Hows/what materials/tools did you use?
The case comes with all the foam as well as the pocketed insert for the lid. The foam in the lower part is one large piece that is perforated into small square sections that are easily separated while maintaining the integrity of the full piece. Just takes some planning to make sure you make as few mistakes as possible.
I have two of those HF big cases now. One I replaced the top layers of foam, with rubber foam, did cutouts, and put my big lights in. The other one I put misc flashlight stuff and smaller lights in.
Great cases for the money. I have over 10lbs of lights in one and transport it every weekend. Had it about a year and its holding up great.
Here is my setup. The 2nd one will be redone when I have enough “keepers” to fill it up. I’ve had to redo my main one 3-4 times when new lights have been added. That gets old using the foam rubber on the top, redoing multiple times. The foam rubber I also got from HF, the big 1/2” thick, 2ft square mats. They help hold my big heavy lights in place better. I still the regular foam on the bottom layers and top.
The 2nd I have been using socks, CR bags, etc. to protect things until it becomes a finished setup.
Nice cases and collections. I’ve made up some cases for ps3 and some scotch that I have. When I have to cut foam I just use chalk to draw desired shape then use the case to flatten it, cut and let it expand.
Wow my case is just like both of these ..all aluminum it has the top like j-macs and the bottom like rdrfronty's ..
The down side is the plastic handle broke on mine ..so I use a strap with a clip on each end and connect to two rings on the front obviously made for a shoulder strap .
I like it.. and have had it loaded up with small lights like J-mac has done ,Since it's made for tools some holes are harder to fill ..my suggestion is ....the pig light .
