The article specifically says it does not mean that:

While that certainly makes it difficult for Huawei to produce a product that’s appealing to a market that’s used to Google services, the Android OS itself is open source.

What was the article? I’d like to read it. Got a link……

Yeah that was stupid from my part.

Should’ve kept a shadow copy just in case, or just the link at least.

Thanks guys…… :+1:

huawei I support you, the phones I use are all huawei

Chinese name,华为,中华有为

So people that bought phones in the USA will be left without Google service? I can see a class action lawsuit coming…

That is just sad. I just bought a P30 Pro and taking photos side by side compared to the Galaxy Note and Iphone X, it is on a whole nother level. Details captured are much sharper with the P30 Pro. It is just hard to imagine a smartphone camera can be this good. Also the 10x telephoto zoom is like having a working telescope that allows you to actually see farther than with your eyes unlike the 2x zoom on the Samsung and Apple’s phones. I was hoping Huawei would bring even more camera breakthroughs for the Mate 30.

To date there has been zero evidence of any backdoors found in Huawei equipment. The only backdoor ever found in Huawei equipment was installed by the NSA and the US have been secretly monitoring all communications of Huawei employees for a decade and to date have found zero evidence of epsionage or any ties between Huawei and the Chinese government. Per Edward Snowden’s leak, the US have been using the NSA backdoor to spy on all nations, including ally nations, that have been using Huawei equipment.

I use android phone with a custom firmware. Don’t use play, gmail or youtube apps.
The move doesn’t make Huawei phones any less desirable for me.

Now there’s an interesting question, Huawei have been denied access to Google services but if you install your own software on Huawei hardware are you allowed access to them?
Or if i buy a Huawei phone with doesn’t have Google services am i allowed install and access them myself? (Not that i intend to, it’s just curiosity.)
They can deny Huawei access but can they deny the user?
