I don’t need super bright! I look for and lift fingerprints at crime scenes so a very bright light would blind me due to bounce back. I leave the light on for extended periods of time over an 8 hr work night. I currently use a streamlight stinger xenon rechargeable, and would b happy with a light the same size (length and head size/shape) as what I have, but a nice clear white light that will last 3 to 4 hrs on a charge. A lighter weight would b nice but I realize the majority of weight is the batt. I also like the side switch vs tail switch. I only need 1 mode if about 150 lumens. I will accept multimode lights if I don’t have to cycle to get to it, ie. secondary selector. Should i just get the LED version of my current light or is there something better AND less expensive? Thanks!!!

What kind of batteries do you prefer size-wise? Primary or rechargeable?
I wanna stay with rechargeable. The length of the streamlight stinger is about perfect for the depth of the pocket. Maybe a half inch too short. I guess i could shorter the pocket by sewing it. If it was half the weight, had a white LED vs yellowish xenon bulb and lasted a lot longer per charge, I’d b happy with it. I REALLY PREFER A SIDE MOUNTED THUMB SWITCH VS TAIL SWITCH. Thanks!!!
Oh yea, and I don’t wanna have to cycle trough a bunch of modes. I just need single mode (150 lumens, or thereabouts) activated by side switch. I can’t find a light to suit these requirements 
Well 18650 LiON cells would help keep your weight down and give you extended runtimes, but you gotta baby the batteries a little bit.
Zebralights make some of the smallest and lightest lights around, their floods are also very clean. Bad part is they’re expensive and they have many modes, although I think you can select 3 modes and then it starts out on whatever mode you last used.
You may wish to consider a Solarforce L2P host, and have our resident P60 drop-in expert make you a custom single-mode unit with a nice neutral-white tint LED. Six hours of runtime could be achieved with a good 18650 rechargeable at the brightness you mentioned.
A smaller L2M host would even work, and at the drive level required to output 150 lumen, you would get around 2.5 hours on a single rechargeable CR123-sized cell.
You could then use a primary lithium cell as your emergency back-up, since they have a very good shelf life. Runtime on the primary would be even longer, probably close to four hours.

Thanks. I’ll check on those. Just noticed my dad has an inova t4. Nice light! Has 3 modes, BUT they switch when u actually click the side button. In other words, u don’t have to do the quick press-press-press thing and hope u don’t pass the mode u want, u know what I mean?

If you’re using an incandescent light right now it might be a good idea to get the L2P. Then you can experiment with a High CRI Warm White XP-G led or get a custom made Nichia 219 High CRI Neutral. As for the lower light level it shouldn’t be too hard to either get someone to change to lower mode drivers or learn how to do it yourself.
A really nice thing too about the L2P is the Fenix HP20 diffuser fits perfectly for a nice instant floody light which might help when looking for fingerprints close up.
Do any of the lights y’all r recommending have side mounted switches?
This is 150 lumens, single mode and takes AAs so you can use rechargeable.
I own 1 and it gets the most use out of any lights I own, he is also making a XP-G2 version in the future.
I should’ve added that I’d like to b able to throw the whole light on a charger…not having to take out and put it batteries every day.

Not sure if you guys use UV lighting but fairly powerful UV leds are now available.
“JUST” the built-in charging feature?!! A flashlight that requires u to remove batteries to recharge shouldn’t b considered “rechargeable”, which is one of my criteria. Removing/charging/reinstalling batteries everyday is a huge hassle to me. Also, y ppl r suggesting lights that don’t provide a side switch is puzzling, as that was also one of my requirements. The fact that I already have the stinger chargers is also a plus for me.
If anyone knows of another reliable light that has the built-in charging capability with 18650 batteries (i can get fresh ones for free at work with exchange) and side mounted switch for less than the stinger, please Lmk
