Please tell me the difference in these UltraFires....

What is the difference between the UltraFire NH-T60 and the KH-T60? I read somewhere that said that the NH-T60 throws better than the UF-980L??

I'm really liking these smaller lights that throw a very tight beam of light with hardly any spill, Is there any others that you would recommend?

Thanks...

Ultrafire M3-T60 with optics.

Thanks for replying phantom23, when I searched for that I found two different ones. I know they have different sku # and the heads are really different. The one with out the optics looks like a KD RQ thrower. So is the one you recommended a pencil beam thrower or a Sky Ray STL-V2 kinda beam? Thanks again..

Hello, rikr.

I own an UltraFire KF-T60, which is the exact same thing as the UltraFire KH-T60, except it is silver and, in my opinion, looks better!

It's definitely not a thrower. It struggles to light up anything further than 80 or so meters away. There is a LOT of spill -- in fact, the spill is almost as bright as the hotspot itself (this is a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea). It's not the light I wanted, which is why I decided to purchase a light that is specifically designed to throw well. Here's hoping it will get here before Christmas.

I don't know about the other UltraFire you mentioned, as I don't own it, but it looks to have the same set-up. You need a deeper reflector or some kind of special lens (aspheric) to get a light to throw well.

Flashlight,

Thanks for responding and letting me know that those don't throw. Which light did you order for throw? I have several throwers but I keep looking for something better. My favorite small thrower that I have is the Ultrafire UF-980L, I got the Keygos KE-5 actually 2 of them because I read on here and even the pictures looked great but both of mine are the ones with the different boards in them. I have the KD C8 and the Keygos KE-2 and that is a better thrower than KD C8 and the KE-5. Sorry for going on and on.....

Thanks alot for the picture. That's what's great about this site, I would have spent $32.00 for something I didn't want. Thank you Tas62

You're welcome!

Well, I haven't exactly ordered it yet, because I'm such an indecisive person. Ordering today wouldn't make a difference anyway since nothing gets shipped out on weekends AFAIK. :P However, I was/am debating between the Fenix TK41 and the Crelant 7G5.

Folks around here seem to prefer the 7G5 due to its variety of battery options, and folks on CPF seem to recommend the TK41 because of its build quality, convenience (runs on AA batteries), and the fact that customer support is available if needed.

From what I've read (i.e. Foy's review), the UF-980L is a great thrower for its size. He did mention that the TK41 "blinds the cactus trunk into invisibility - something the 980L doesn't seem capable of doing", which is the idealistic description for a thrower!

What's keeping me on the fence (despite numerous folks here suggesting the Crelant) is the safety issues with multi-cell lights. They've guided me here very nicely, informing me that, with good protected cells and a multimeter, I should be okay. There's always the slight chance for something disastrous to occur though! I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little more cash for the Fenix in order to save my fingers.

Hmm...when will I make up my mind?

Flashlight,

I have the TK41 and it is awesome, I also have the Catapult V3 and that throws great. I have the Solarforce MP1 and that's a great thrower also.

I just am liking these little lights, but ILF just got that Olight M3X and it looks really good. Thanks for all your help and good luck with your choice.

I think this two are good enough to own them all

Rikr, does your TK41 outperform your V3, match it, or is it less powerful? I'm not interested in the Solarforce MP1 because I hear it's not built as well as the Fenix or Thrunite. Plus, the total lumen output is greatly reduced, yet it doesn't throw much further than an XM-L based light. Thanks!

FL,

The TK couldn't touch the cat v3. I have been looking at the thrunite TN11 and it is sounding like a good thrower.

Darn. I was hoping that the 55kcd ANSI figure for the Fenix TK41 would be accurate, but if it's unable to even keep up with the Cat 3, it probably isn't.

The TN11 is a really good-looking light! I was looking at it before I decided I wanted a larger thrower.

Edit: Selfbuilt's lux numbers for the Eagletac M3C4 XM-L and the V3 are 38,750 and 40,500 respectively.

I've been informed that the TK 41 out-throws the Eagletac, so it should probably be kind of close to the V3. Selfbuilt has admitted that his lux figures are usually a bit lower than normal.

I could be wrong but I've never put them up against each other. I have to get it back I let my friend take it Deer hunting. I would be shocked if it does.

FL,

Have you thought about the Sky Ray STL-V2 or the FF STL-V6 , I have both of them and they are killer throwers.

Rikr,

I appreciate all of these suggestions! However, if I were to get a 2 * 18650 light, it would definitely be the Crelant, as it far out-throws the FF STL V6 and Sky Ray STL V2. That doesn't matter though, because 2100, who has been very helpful in answering my various questions thus far, has recommended the TK 41 for me at this stage, as I know little about li-ion safety, and don't want to be worrying about all of that jazz -- for now.

What keeps me from getting a 2x18650 light is not so much the chance of anything to actually happen, as the mental burden of making sure it doesn't.

I'm certain I'd in no time wear down the tailcap threads with the frequent checking of battery balance. Wink

Haha! That's another thing that prevented me from getting the Crelant. I'm quite paranoid and I'd be checking the balance after every usage of the light...that's not what I wanted. I wanted a light purely for fun! :P
