The 1.4 amp driver would be so much easier in the build process, but don't let that sway you.
EDIT:
The Poll is closed. Craig has the Nichia at 20% off! That was the clincher right there! I just ordered 40 of them, LOL.
Not very many have taken the poll yet, but it looks like the Nichia will be a runaway. I'm sort of surprised by that.
All of the “C” tints I have are greenish and my maglites get hot at 2.8A drive and the run time is not as good. I just think that led, driver, and host are a great fit and with a 14650 even better. Just need to figure out the emitter optic issue. If you decide to go with XML for that reason, I’d still vote for the 1.4A driver.
Why not XP-G2 neutral. I have to admit, the LED mini mag you sent me with the XP-G2 is pretty nice. Lots of throw. It’s a cool white though, I’d like to see a neutral.
I thought of it after, but between the Nichia and XP-G2, I would still choose the Nichia.
2.8A is too much for a Mini-mag, IMHO. I’d rather make a 1,4A driver, 3 mode and 3 emitters (Nichia, XP-G2 or XM-L2, both NW) to choose from
OL, if people saw the light in question or had an idea of what makes it LTD EDT, maybe they’d vote. I think we all like pictures
XP-G2?
Well, a sample of the laser cut light will arrive later in the week. As far as what makes it an LE? I am making them and I am only going to make a few (less than 50, probably less than 40, so it’s a limited edition of mt 2AA mini-maglite). Photos will come the end of the week, but this poll is only for which led to use in it. an XM-L at 2.8a or 1.4a or a Nichia at 1.4a The TIR optic is the same in all of them.
I think it's safe to say that it's a no brainer. The Nichia is desired way above the others and it has been the trademark, so to speak, of my lights, so I can see already it will be Nichia 219's at 1.4 or 1.5 amp. If I use the Kaidomain drivers (V2) they will be 1.5 amp.
