I don’t know. It’s still a coating. On a piece of metal that is meant to take abuse. Aren’t full sized crowbars not normally made of stainless steel? I can see a coating being more useful there.
Most pry bars are painted on all the non-contact areas and bare metal on the contact areas. I assume this one would be the same. Much of the painting you see on lots of items any more, is powder coating. Powder coating has taken over from regular wet spray for a long time now. It's tougher than wet spray, if it's done right and you would be surprised just how much is done that way.
Nice alright. I believe that’s called Harlequin.
I’ve seen it on a few cars around here. It does not suit car bodies !!!
But the right applications, very cool looking. A Maglite in that colour would look swish. But only a small one. Look a tad garish on the larger ones I’m thinking.
Haha indeed ! I can just picture a 70s pimp in a Harlequin Caddy wearing exaclty that.
I’ve seen a ~92 Vette, similar vintage MR2, 96 Accord and a 60s Beetle in Harlequin.
The cutting/prying part can be left un-coated yes, or can be fully coated
Yes, with the right equipment, eg. Air compressor, filters, powder coating gun, powder and a dedicated oven (can’t use ovens used for food due to the fumes in curing)
The candy purple, The most expensive! For it to come out well you have to chrome the base first and cure, then put the candy coat over the top and cure again.
Most if the work is in the preparation as you can see on videos of powder coating
No, they would rust very easily, powder coating is tough, very under rated. Contact areas are usually left bare (the same with any tool)
It’s tougher than most, if you watch the video a few posts up you’ll see how it holds up against paint and anodising
I think a lot more people would do it, but start up is expensive, and you are limited by the size of the oven you are using to cure the parts (mine is a mini oven 2ft by 1ft ish) good for lights and small parts, but couldn’t do a set of alloy wheels. I could spray them, just not cure them!
