Predicament with new led drop in

Hey guys,

Im new to this forum so sorry this is posted in the wrong section. I have purchased a new led bulb replacement from aliexpress Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com to breathe new life into an old incandescent flashlight and I just took another look at the bulb I am replacing and noticed that while the flashlight has 4 D cells (6v) the bulb I am replacing is only 4.8v 0.7a. So I ask how is this light running such a low voltage bulb with such a high voltage power source and will my 6v led bulb work?

Thanks in advance

How did you measure this (4.8v) voltage? And current?
You shouldnt exceed 0.5W led power for this bulb, current should be ten times less or near so.

I didn’t measure the voltage or current. The light runs on 4 D cell batteries which are 1.5 volts each in series. The side of the bulb has the rating of 4.8 volts and 0.7 amps. The flashlight is extremely simple and works by connecting the + and - straight to the bulb via a switch so there are no step down circuits or anything else.

There is just additional resistor near led. Current is restricted.

I don’t see where any resistors could be and the light is currently running on the incandescent bulb with the aforementioned 4.8v 0.7a ratings.
If I can figure out how to insert images I will put some in. The model of the light is Panasonic BF-775 so you might be able to see some photos if the workings.

Such led bulbs are used as additional light in many tools (cars, fridges, sewing machines etc.). Non of them have internal led driver, thats why this bulb have resistor inside socket.

Ahh I think I see where you are coming from now. Thanks for being so helpful and replying to my dumb questions.
