Problem with FW3A

Hello!

I am owner of a FW3A from the first batch. Today I’ve got a 18350-body. With that I’ve watched the problem that the FW3A starts without any action from my side. It’s still lying on my desk and starts to light.
I’ve watched this behaviour a few times before with the FW3A with 18650-body in my pocket, but thought that I’ve pressed the button accidentally. At the moment I begin to think that this was not the problem in my pocket.

Is this a known bug? What can I do?

How can a button top help? On driver side there is a spring, and my 18350 is button-top.

does it also happen with a button top 18650 battery ?

There have been reported problems with the switch on the FW3A. It is said to turn on easily and ramp up to max. If it turns itself on it can be very dangerous. I would never leave a battery inside without locking it out.

Does your switch feel particularly stiff or is it blocked in some positions?

I think, ToyKeeper made an Anduril version also for the D4V2 that ramps down again when the switch is not released. This way, the FW3A can’t overheat or set something on fire.

Hello!

Yes, it occurs with 18650, too, but not so often. Or, in other words: with the 18350-body it occurs even when the light is lying on my table, with the 18650 it does only occur when wearing it = it is rattling and shaking in my pocket.

The switch is fine working, all parts are (including the retaining ring in the head) are locked.

In the meantime I came to the conclusion that the problem is the craftmanship (?) of the inner tube of the light. For a correct work it is important that the inner tube is insulated to the outer tube - all around. And my guess is that this is’nt given.

And my beobachtung yesterday was, that on second time it lights up without any action I can’t lock out the light by loosening the head. I had to screw off the whole head to stop working.
