I bought an UltraFire UF-980L from Manfont a while ago and I am using a Kepppower 18650 3400mAh 3.6v battery that I charge with a soshine V3.0 charger. I charge either of the batteries and then place it in the light and the light might come on well but then flickers, may stop, reduce light output etc. It just is not working. Can anyone tell me what the issue is? Is it the light or the batteries. I remember first getting it and it would be bright and get hot in the hand which I was aware of, but none of that now and the thing would have only been used very sparingly. Any thoughts?
Check the pill is screwed in firmly and the switch likewise. Often the pills in these work loose after a time and need to be retightened, no need to screw them up tight, just firm. Same thing happened to mine a couple of times.
Something like circlip pliers or a compass divider works well.
The 980L pill can turn right through the head, so it’s a good idea to first tighten the bezel down, then tighten the pill onto the reflector.
yeah the light throws and floods nicely when it is working. I still have a few issues with t but tightening the pill and rear certainly has helped. I just wish it wouldn’t flicker some times or go to a lower mode than it should be on it is just annoying. Have you got the same?
They are good cells. Sometimes protected cells can misbehave when under too much pressure, or the really long ones can put pressure on the driver board and cause issues.
I doubt that’s the problem here though, probably just dirty threads.
If a good clean doesn’t help then it could be a faulty switch. Start at the head, disassemble and clean everything then reassemble and tighten everything firmly.
If that doesn’t help then do the same for the switch assembly.
thanks mate will do - it has been behaving nicely the last coupe of nights at work, I think it has everything to do with what you have said in relation to the pill being screwed properly - thanks
