PT-54 red in a C8 direct drive

1 Panasonic 18650

Amazing! I need some details though. Is it aspheric? Are you DD on a LiPo 18650? The data sheet on the pt-54 makes it look like it doesn’t like a voltage above 3.5. What sort of current do you think it’s pulling?

Nice, what's the distance to the tower?

Plus or minus 180 yrds. Maybe plus or minus 10 yards.

The host is a C8 with the smooth aluminum reflector. I used the stock driver, drilled a hole and just ran the positive wire straight through to the top of the positive contact spring directly on the battery. The switch is a 20A round rocker automotive switch. Im using a panasonic 18650 protected. It can only run for about 20-25 secs before it gets too hot. I just bought a copper heatsink which I will use to see if it improves. The battery doesn’t last long either. Its a serious “momentary” light right now! Oh and no, it is not aspheric. I will measure current real quick. BRB!

I just measured 9.74 at the tail cap. That was a fresh 4.14 volt battery too.

What led is this?

WOW that must get hot. Those PT-54s are very interesting LEDs. I’d love to make a hunting light out of one some day

PT-54 red. They are used in projectors.

Right up in the title. PT-54 red from Luminous.

Pt54 red is the equivalent to a red sst90 but on a board for projectors. I’d love a red monster, what’s the board look like installed?

These are ones I got

No problem! I have the sinkpad “swimming” in thermal epoxy because I read somwhere the sinkpad is case positive. I didnt verify it was but I did it anyway.
