Is this PWM rate acceptable ?.

5khz is acceptable to my eye, but for camera, i dont think it’s suitable
but MCU has developed very fast recently, i think reaching over 100khz pwm is not hard

I see PWM up to 15khz. Not directly but through stroboscopic effect of course. So I think 5khz is not acceptable for >10$ range.

Thanks , I know Reylight mentioned his tool aaa etc was 9khz.
I thought over 16 was better.

There's just only one “acceptable” PWM frequency: 0Hz.

Bear also in mind that switching the driving devices (regulators, MOSFETs, etc) isn't free, takes time and power. As the frequency is increased, side-effects can appear, as happens with those old 7135s: above ≈5KHz switching frequency and regulation goes down the drain (check this Qlite rev. A -Nanjg 105c- HKJ driver review for facts).

the claw type AMCs do very fine on 18kHz even down to 2.5V, where other 7135s have quite a big deal earlier
this is why I was so pissed when my supplier quit selling the claw type, luckily another seller turned out to have same quality and but with 500 I got shit quality
also in reality 1% PWM cycle on those works quite well, even 0.5%

Even measureable PWM at the LED the driver needs wither switch the battery or burn the additional voltage, so for the runtime switching is better

with AMC like PWM putting a capacitor on the LED output is probably not good to smooth the visible pwm a bit?

Lexel, the real answer to this PWM smoothing endeavour is to attach an inductor in series with the emitter(s), I believe.

80 Hz is probably the limit for non moving objects.
When the lighted / lighting object moves, you can perceive PWM up to much higher frequencies.
