[Q] I'd like to ask everyone about measuring specifications

I see that flashlights have various specs like lumens, cd, throw distance, and CRI… I recently ordered an OPPLE Light Master 4 from AliExpress, but I have a few questions:

  • How can I accurately measure the throw distance of a flashlight (in meters)?
  • I found out about the OPPLE Light Master 4 from a post on BLF, but I’m wondering if there are more specialized and accurate devices available. What equipment do flashlight manufacturers use?
  • I’ve noticed that reviews often show different specs than those provided by the manufacturers. Is this discrepancy due to measurement tools or the testing environment?

Thanks a lot, and I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I’m really interested in learning more about this hobby and even dream of building my own flashlight someday, so I’m eager to learn more.

I review flashlights in 1Lumen and there’s good info on that site as far as measurements and such at 1lumen.com. go check that out.
