QB26800 UK group buy

Hello all,

Currently its not possible to order any 26800 Li Cells in the UK.
I spoke with QB and they wont ship less than 80 cells to the UK due to the costs, and have no EU / UK vendors.

I have managed to agree with Aloft Hobbies their only vendor in America to ship some to me once they receive their next order.

This is available to anyone in the UK the ability to buy the batteries for at retail plus an equal share of international shipping + onward shipping.

E.G. 4 cells are $8 (aprox £6) USD each 26800 6800mAh 3.7v Li-ion Flat Top Battery – Aloft Hobbies (link is external)

  • $20 USD (aprox £15.20) divided by 4 shipping so it would be $13 (aprox £9.90) per cell at this shipping rate (This will change depending on how many cells are purchased).
  • onward shipping to their home address in the UK between £3-10 depending on amount of cells ordered and shipping preference.

If you are interested please reply below with how many cells you would like
Once Aloft Hobbies have stock in I will update this post and contact you directly via DM to arrange payment and collect your address.
At this point I will ask for payment of the cell and your share of the international shipping.
I will then place the order and provide proof.

Once in the UK I will then contact you and notify you of the cost of shipping to your address and request payment.
I will use the postage method of your choice Royal Mail Tracked, 1st class, or 2nd class.
If you choose Tracked as soon as I ship I will send you the tracking details of your order.

I wont be looking to make any money but rather help reduce the overall import costs of the batteries for UK users.

Those of you in the UK will enjoy the extra power in current and capacity the 26800 gives over the best 26650 cells.

Sorry, I don’t want to be a killjoy, but I miss two words in the OP. VAT and customs. VAT has to be payed on the price of the goods, plus the shipping costs to the country of destination. How much handling fee (per parcel) you pay depends on how many cells are allowed to be send in one parcel. Just saying.
Maybe it is more sensible to see if you succeed in getting enough interest for 80 cells, and let QB take care of the special needs of sending high powered cells in parcels to the UK.

Guys, I bought 2 pcs od QB26800 6800mAh, but they seem to be used, can anyone tell me at what voltage they came from shop? Those I bought were at 4.11, which is rather odd for new, uncycled cells.

My take on this is that the majority of cells are “grey” imports, cell manufacturing companies don’t want their cells being used how we use them, they don’t way the liability issues.

Seems like lots of our cells come from middle men, who order a bunch of cells from eg. Samsung, and tell them the cells are to be used in power tool batteries. Somehow not all the cells go into power tool batteries, and are re-wrapped or just sold as is.

The more unusual cell types (27800), are less common, so sourcing them is more of a challenge and they’re likely coming from disassembled battery packs (from what I’ve seen).

Normally, uncycled cells are 3.6 or something.

Where did you order the cells from?

Didn’t Simon at convoy start shipping the L8’s with QB’s for a while? would it be worth trying to go that route, shipping would be less and VAT would already be calculated.

As gravelmonkey already stated: new/uncycled cells are generally at a (long term) storage voltage of 3,6V. (Preferably between 3,5 and 3,7 volt.)

Most battery stores/dealers buy the batteries in ‘bulk’ and because some of them might stay in inventory for a (long) while, they keep them at a storage voltage, which is better for Li-ion cells who aren’t used for a while.
Most of the cells I buy from Nkon (which is a reputable store, going by my own experience and a lot of members here on the forum) are generally in the 3,5-3,7 range when I recieve them.

So 4,11 volts might be a bit weird, in the sense that it is a bit higher than you generally would expect for a brand new, uncycled cell, but maybe the store you bought it from (partially) charges them from time to time (or maybe before they shipped them out).
