I picked up a new qlite driver and had guppydvr firmware loaded onto the light.
After a bit of a struggle I think I finally have the mode group’s figured out. Unfortunately when I use any of the 100% power groups the light almost immediately switches to a very low output.
I have yet to set the turbo timer (60 clicks of the tailswitch) so the turbo timer should be on the stock setting. That said, the output the light drops to seems to be FAR lower then the 50% claimed.
Next question, if I can get full power figured out, can I set no timer with this firmware? I want the light to be able to go 100% all the time.
Well, it looks like Dr Jones we page has some info. If I can get into the turbo timer settings setting it for less then 4 seconds should disable the timer.
Onto the more interesting news. If I swap cells for my new Samsung from my D4 the light stays on 100% for 3 seconds. The other cells I have, older cells of unknown brand but they work fine in my D4, only engage 100% for just under 1 second.
Oddly enough 70% power works just great.
Anybody have more info on the gruppydrv firmware? The instructions and modes listed on Dr Jones page is different then the Mtn Electronics page.
The guppydrv turbo timer ramp is pretty slow, almost hard to see visually. Once it starts ramping it takes 20-30 seconds for the output to fully reduce so if you are seeing a fast reduction I don’t think the timer is the cause.
This was my concern, however the flashlight seems fine at 70% output. I would somewhat expect similar happenings at other power levels. Granted, I have not run it for long periods at lower levels, so maybe I just have not hit the time yet.
