Qlite low mode only works when HOT?

Okay, so I thought this was a bit strange…

I have a light built using a Qlite driver set to the four-mode with the low-5mA mode enabled via soldered jumper. The driver is soldered into the pill. The light is a full-size Convoy S2 using the deep SMO reflector and XP-G2.

The low/med/high modes work perfectly, but the 5mA low only works when the light has gotten hot from being used on high. After the light cools off, the low-low mode stops working again.

The only thing I can think of is a bad solder connection at the star, but it seems to be good, as it is solidly soldered to the star, and I used that point to solder directly through to the pill as well.

Anybody seen this before or should I just tear everything down and resolder all the connections anyway?

So you’re saying it switches between being 4-mode and 3-mode, or it just does low mode twice in a row?

When cool, it does low-med-high.

After heating up from running on high for a while, it will do the full 5mA-low-med-high. After it cools off, it goes back to the three-mode operation.

Gotta be a cold solder joint .My guess is it’s on the board . it’s probably not your work .you don’t do anything bad …yer a blf’er :stuck_out_tongue:
