gents I got a pflexpro c8 a while ago which turns out only to use flat unprotected batteries which I don’t do. The maker said I can modify various things in the boot or unscrew something or other to make the light work with protected 18650…I am not much of a tinkerer and couldn’t get it to run so I just chucked the light in a draw.
My situation is I am now after a new rifle hunting light with remote tail switch and thought why not try get this light running after all, since I seem to remember reading there are remote switch/tailcaps for c8? Could I buy one of these and use it on the pflexpro light? or should I buy an entire new convoy c8 with additional remote tail cap? As you can see I am a light user not a light enthusiast or expert, thanks for any advice.
actually would anyone from australia like this light very cheap? I am tired of having it lie about. Make me an offer if you are interested. I might try a new nitecore p30 instead.
Why not buy the remote switch from Simon’s AliExpress store? That switch is made for the Convoy C8. As long as your light is fully potted it should be perfect for a weapon mounted light. Just google “ Convoy Flashlight Store” and the switch will be in there.
Hi mate $50 including postage whatever that is ono. Just letting you know its a downrated power model, I had the maker set it for about 700 lumens max from memory as I wanted more runtime for work at full. The specs don’t mean much to me, I was going off others recommendations but here they are:
Fully potted, 2.28A,smooth reflector XPL-HI, 1A(7000K), forward clicky, 22 mode groups.
Purchase was october last year, it has never left my desk draw. If still interested PM me.
Okay so I am back to square one , I need to get this running
So just a questions, if anyone would be so kind to help.
Is there any model of the remote tail cap that might allow me to use button top protected batteries in this c8? Or is this battery type going to be too long in every version?
If I understand things, here, the problem with protected cells in this light is that the tailcap cant screw down enough to make electrical contact with the end of the body tube?
Maybe an option worth looking at is finding or making some spacers. At the tail end you could probably bend a ring out of a scrap of solid household electrical wire. If its too thick you could lap down on some sandpaper. At the head end, you could do the same, or use something non conductive, since the main electrical contact is with the threads.
If the spacers aren’t too thick the orings should still make a seal. You could probably pick up 4-5mm with spacers at both ends.
Good idea, that is what I did to get some Solarforce pocket clips work on a D4. I took 14awg solid copper house wiring, bended it so it would fit in the tailcap, then hammered it down on something smooth and flat till I had the right thickness. Only took a few minutes and worked perfectly. Should be just enough to make your protected cells fit even if your remote tail cap doesn’t give you the space.
From what you are saying I think the problem is the other way around. According to pflexpro with a long unprotected battery ‘The spring compresses completely and puts excessive pressure on the switch board. This will cause the switch board to separate from the retaining ring’
I notice if I don’t fully screw the tail cap on, aka have it still separated in my hand but applying pressure together, the light works. Then it seems to go and and off as I begin to screw it right in, then once its screwed on completely it will not turn on at all.
He gave me some detailed instructions to mod the light to allow these longer batteries to work, but I could not discern how to do it. For the record he was extremely helpful and even offered to send a tail cap that works with protected batteries , however shipping being what it is, I didn’t take him up on this offer.
Thanks Macka I very much appreciate your offer, I am in NQ btw. However I have no idea what your post meant :D. Are the magnets converting the light or battery and what does the mm relate to? Sorry as I mentioned in my post I am just a user, not an expert on lights. Ex-army using them for hunting and FIFO work. Which is another reason I was advised to stick with one type as the lights get swapped and handed over so they suggested to avoid screw-ups always have only one type of battery around.
The only reason I went for pflexpro is everyone on candelpower said they can build a tough , handheld thrower at older spec lumens of 700-800 to increase user time. At the time nitcore hadn’t done the P30 or I hadn’t heard about, if I had I would have just bought one….
Actually do you want this light for $20, its apparently fully potted etc etc. I am coming down the coast in a week or two, I could drop it into you if you want.
Hi.
Please excuse this post if it is inappropriate.
If Macka17 is not interested in the light, I would be happy to buy it for $20 and shipping.
Thanks.
