Question about Dereelight Compatibility

Greetings!

I’ve been highly considering a Dereelight Night Master, but ran across a post that said the bodies and lenses of most of their torches are compatible. Seems to me you could assemble a pretty nice array of lighting options using a single body, and a couple of lenses.

Looking at the specs of the DBS-T, it looks like it uses the same emitter (XP-G2) and driver (2MT-S) as the Night Master. I’m really looking for a single 18650 option, but the question I have is, will the Night Master and XSearcher heads/lenses fit on the DBS-T body? If so, is there any reason not to go this route?

Thanks!

From memory, a lot of “lego” combinations are possible with the Dereelight range. However, it takes quite a bit of reading to get your head around exactly what fits with what.

They have single and multi-cell pills, but the multi-cell pills work best with at least two cells. This gives better runtimes.

Only reasons not to go down the route you are thinking of would be people telling you there are cheaper options that would do the same job. However, the Dereelight stuff is well-made and worth a little extra IMO. I have a few of their lights and have been happy with them.

I’d send an email to Dereelight directly and ask what you want to know. I’ve found Alan to be pretty responsive to questions in the past.

Oh, and welcome to BLF!

I hope you have fun here, Seadweller!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I reached out to Alan a couple of days ago, but haven’t heard back yet…

By the way, the current version of the Night Master and DBS-T uses the XP-G2 emitter, but there seems to be a lot of buzz around the prior EZ900 emitter in the Night Master. Is the EZ900 better, and would it be a good idea to pick up an older model if available?

I wondered the same things and it was not entirely clear which emitter would have the longest throw.

Also with the expense I wondered whether an inexpensive Zoom could be modded by someone here if I gave them two extras for themselves and parts…
Post what you find out- I
also like the idea of a single 18650 super long throw laser like beam …
