Can anyone tell me what this circled thing is on the mcpcb. The positive tab of the mcpcb didn’t have continuity to the positive side of the LED unless I bridged this with solder. Now I’m wondering what its function is.

I googled the image I see this may be a surface mount resistor. This is on a streamlight polystinger. I removed the mcpcb and reflowed a Nichia 519a onto it. When I checked to make sure the LED was mounted correctly I wasn’t getting continuity. So I bridged this with a solder blob and everything worked.
I’m new to all this. I suppose I bypassed a safety feature for the LED. But I would have just put a newer mcpcb on which doesn’t have a resistor. Do you think I’m ok, or will I burn the LED up?

Could be a diode, lol…if bridging/jumping it allowed current flow, I’m convinced it was a diode…
Anothee thing, did you check for continuity on that component? Does it read open one way and closed the other way?
I used my DMM to check from the positive contact on the mcpcb to the negative. This usually dimly lights the LED for me. I wasn’t getting that so checked for continuity between the positive pad and positive’bar’ the LED sits on, and same with the negative side. I had continuity on the negative side but not the positive. I had continuity from the positive pad to the one side of this component. When I bridged it I had continuity all the way to the LED. I’m new to this and didn’t know there would be any components on the mcpcb itself.
This is most likely a 0 Ohm Resistor aka a jumper.
I am unable to read the numbers on it so I’m not 100% sure.
Really need a higher quality photo to identify any markings.
Is there any way this could be a PTC resistor as some kind of crude thermal protection?

A 0 Ohm resistor would just have a Zero on it, here we see more numbers than one.
A google search of the numbers and letters on the MCPCB found out, that the light is a “Streamlight Stinger LED HL” or “HPL” - at least the LED board looks similar:
At least the HPL runs with NiMH cells - so maybe it really is just a resistor?
At this price (over 150:money_mouth_face: I would assume LiIon and some kind of driver…
