Question about srk fet driver thermal sensor

Trying to decide the best place to mount the temperature sensor. Suggestions? I was thinking about mounting it on the front of the 1” thick aluminum the mcpcb is mounted to. Is this a good position or would the wall of the driver cavity be better?

It depends how you calibrate the sensor.

There are lights where the sensor is directly soldered on the LED star, which is in my opinion the best spot to get a smooth output when regulating PID

Others just monitor the temperature close to the tube to set a constant tube temperature with bigger steps in PID regulation

The closer you can measure to the LEDs die the better, but with a superior thermal conductivity of your body the light may get too hot to hold while the LED with DTP star is not too hot

The driver is a srk v2 fet driver and the info at mtnelectronics states the step down is 60° c (140° f). It seems to me that mounting it on the same surface as the star would be better for the emitter and easier on the hand. I may be looking at it wrong. That’s why I asked for suggestions.

If you can calibrate the Sensor to 75dC PID or so its good on the Star

With 60dC and stepdown mount it on the shell of the light

OK, thanks.
